    Vincent verdict is due today

The Troy Vincent intrigue deepened yesterday, with defensive coordinator Jim Johnson saying the Eagles probably would decide today whether Vincent will play in Sunday's NFC semifinal playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles continue to list cornerback Vincent as "probable,'' and coach Andy Reid has treated his return to the lineup almost as a given. Vincent, who declined through an Eagles spokesman to speak to reporters yesterday, said Wednesday that he expects to be able to play, but acknowledged he probably couldn't have played if the game had been yesterday.

Vincent strained a hip flexor in the Eagles' Dec. 15 victory at Miami. He sat out the final two games of the regular season.

"I think we're going to give it 1 more day and say, 'Are we ready to go or not?' '' Johnson said. "We're just kind of bringing him along a little bit. I think he's going to really find out [today] if he can accelerate. He's going to get another day of rest, and we're going to push it [today] and see.''
