How does this team compare to last years?

Obviously the passing game speaks for itself. Enough positive cannot be said for Drew, Moulds, Price, Reed, Centers, and Moore!

But what about the rest?

Last year we had the 21st ranked yardage D. This year we currently have the 25th and have allowed 28 more ypg on avg.

Last year we had the 29th ranked scoring D. This year we're allowing almost 10 ppg more than last season and we're ranked 32nd.

Last year we had the 13th ranked passing D. This year we currenty have the 21st and are allowing more than 32 ypg more passing even though we've supposedly upgraded our secondary.

Our rushing D is about the same as it was last year and hasn't improved much at all.

Last year our rushing offense was ranked 22nd and averaging over 105 ypg in spite of having to throw in most games due to being down. So far this season we are ranked 27th and averaging over 26 ypg less than we did last season in spite of having a totally prolific passing offense such as we didn't know last year, to open up the running game.

The only improvements so far this season have been in STs which is not playing well, but simply playing average and not giving up nearly as many big plays and field position as it did last year. Couple that w/ the obvious improvement in the passing game, and that's it!

After that, it appears that we've regressed quite a bit!

What's the explanation for this? I mean, afterall, we did upgrade our secondary, our OL, and LBing corps, no?

Coaching anyone....?

I'm shocked at the d's lousy play. But you are crazy to say/think that we aren't better than last year.

If football were a game of stats, you'd be a frickin' genius, Wys. :)

Let's see!

We're giving up more yards this year than last.

Our Rush D is giving up about the same.

We're giving up 32 more yards passing, 28 yards overall, and almost 10 ppg more.

Our rushing game is netting just over half of what it did last year.

Yeah, you guys are right. We're better!

Wake up and smell the roses y'all! Our defense has regressed since last year! HELLO!!!

Agree Wys, is our Dline that sorry that our CB's have to play 10 yards off? With our corners zero picks after 5 games is not acceptable.
The D has given up way too many big plays.
Granted we have played some strong offensive teams in the Vikings, Broncos and Raiders.

stop just looking at stats and look at the big picture....the bills are a better team than last year...a brit one told me that americans are so obsessed with statistics that they miss the actual sport of sports...wys...you are proving him right! its like reading a box score and thinking that you can tell how the game went without watching it!

Wings I agree. Our defense is worse then it was last year. Since this is Gregg Williams defense that he brought with him from Tenn. he should be fired at the end of the year if they still don't improve.

GW was brought in here because of 2 things, 1) a interview and 2) he was a defensive "genuis".

We'll it doesn't take a "genuis" to see that our Defense is horrible.
Mike Sheppard took the fall for the Offense last year. GW should take the fall for the defense this year.

There are improvements on the team. Besides the offense the Special teams play has been improving all year. Danny Smith is doing a fine job.
