Rumors here (as predicted by me, BTW) are that da Bears low balled Nick Saban, using the excuse that they can't afford to pay him the big bucks since they are still on the hook for $2+ for Jauron for the next 2 years. But if Buffalo happened to hire Jauron and lightened the Bears load, they could pay Saban more.
Saban said no thanks.
Lovie Smith is back in Chicago today, and my money is on him getting the job. They also interviewed Russ Grimm :huh:
The Bears are amazing. They just got gobs and gobs of $$ from PSL's at the new Soldier Field. More skyboxes. A new advertising gimmick where the Bears are "sponsored" by Bank One. And they are too cheap to hire the best man for the job.
Ralph has spent the $$ for players, but he hasn't ever spent money on a coach.
