Two days after failing to come close to stopping Peyton Manning and the Colts in a playoff game, Chiefs defensive coordinator Greg Robinson resigned.
The Colts did not punt once in their 38-31 victory on Sunday, scoring at will against the Chiefs on drives of 70, 76, 71, 51, 64 and 81 yards.
"It's tough to say goodbye to Greg," coach Dick Vermeil said Tuesday while fighting back tears.
After Sunday's game, Robinson told Vermeil that he would resign if he wanted him to. It was a mutual decision to move on, Vermeil said.
"In this business you move on," Vermeil said. "I've cut some football players over the years that I love like a son. I heard from one yesterday who I cut in 1982."
