Hey, Let's get a GM with no authority and buckles under everone's scrutiny.

TD is a rigid, business-like President/GM. He follows a process and sometimes is more comfortable with people who are familiar and have worked with him before.
Isn't this what most good business leaders do? When I was a Sales Exec., there were often guys/gals who'd get higher level positions with a competitors and, usually, the first thing they'd do is give calls to all the top sales execs at the old company and recruit them over (or at least try).
It just makes sense. TD is not giving anybody free rides because he's buddy buddy with them. He's doing what most good business leaders do, and hiring the good producers he knows. And it's not even like he's done it that much.
He f-ed up with GW. Do you really think he's trying to lose his job with this hire? Give up all the conspiracy theories and such. He's doing his job the way he thinks it should be done in order to be successful. If you disagree with the methods, fine, but please stop this conspiracy craziness. TD is the GM of the Buffalo Bills. He is not the leader of SD-6 or the Cigarette Smoking Man.

    Please!
