One mustconsider which total team offense would you rather have to work with, NE or Pitt. I would much rather have NE's, considering Brady and the offensive line. Pitt has the better receivers, the backs are about a wash with Pitt a small advantage MAYBE, NE's TE's I think are better.

I think NE has the better defense, better kicking and better coaching, all of which helps the offense. Not to mention the officials.

Here are how the two offense's faired.

PT: 2001 3295 pass 16td 12int 2774 rush 17td
NE: 2001 3326 pass 21td 15int 1793 rush 15td

PT: 2002 4036 pass 26td 22int 2120 rush 15td
NE: 2002 3767 pass 28td 14int 1508 rush 9td

PT: 2003 3548 pass 19td 17int 1488 rush 10td
NE: 2003 3651 pass 23td 13int 1607 rush 9td

TOTAL in 3 YEARS AVERAGE
PT: 3626pass 20td 17int 2127rush 14 tds 5753 total 34 TDS
NE: 3581pass 24td 14int 1636rush 11 tds 5217 total 35 TDS

NE was 11-5,9-7, 14-2
PT was 13-3, 10-5-1, 6-10 ( i think)

well, it is obvious that MM uses the run more, which is something that we really need. he also was able to attain those passing numbers with 2 ****box qbs.. not shabby..

looking at those stats next to each other.. it really makes me realize that we are being too critical. NE won a lot of games w/ their defense this year, not because they are a power house offense.

i will accept MM and be happy about it, till i have reason to think otherwise.

2127 rushing yards vs 1636 is good , passing looks to be about a wash. It looks to me like one is as good as the other, with the exception of rushing yards.

Compared to Buffalo offense under Gilbride:

PT: 2002 4036 pass 26td 22int 2120 rush 15td
NE: 2002 3767 pass 28td 14int 1508 rush 9td
BUF: 2002 3995 pass 24td 15int 1596 rush 17td

PT: 2003 3548 pass 19td 17int 1488 rush 10td
NE: 2003 3651 pass 23td 13int 1607 rush 9td
BUF: 2003 2684 pass 11td 17int 1664 rush 13td

I'd say either MM or Weis would kick Dilbride's ass!

Just something to consider when you make a statement like this ... Brady has only ever played for Weiss. Who's to say that playing for someone else, Brady wouldn't look like a Maddox or someone. Brady was not highly regarded in the draft at all, yet two years later he's on his way to the Super Bowl. Weiss deserves a hell of a lot of credit for that.

I still think Mularkey's the better choice though.

Oh, there is definitely unknowns here. Was it more Weis than anything, or Weis's offense than anything that made Brady as good as he is? Could be. Impossible to tell. What I like about the job that Clements and Mularkey did with the PITT quarterbacks was that they are complete opposites. And nobody thought either of them would be good and Kordell became a MVP candidate and Maddox comeback player of the year when he didnt even have a career to come back from.

I think Weis would have been a decent choice, too. The point of the stats were to show that everyone is so high on Weis, and yet with what I would consider slightly inferior talent, Mularkey did just as good with what he had.
