The Pats have been unable to sign Damien Woody, and the latest rumors are that they are going to let him test the market. It seems the Pats don't believe Woody is worth paying like a top OL, and they are remaining firm with what they consider a deal he is worth.

Thus, they are going to let Woody test the FA market. If he can get an offer that beats what the Pats are willing to pay him, he is likely gone. If not, they are keeping their offer on the table.

Thus, Woody is there for the taking, if Buffalo is interested.

BTW, I am aware Woody is a FA, but just meant that the Pats don't look likely to sign him or tag him (franchise or transition) prior to the start of FA. Their strategy is that they have made a good offer, and are willing to let him go out and find a better one in the free agency period. It is similar to what they did with Chad Eaton in 2000, and he ended up signing with Seattle.

If his knee is OK, we should at least talk to him/his agent.

I read he tore his MCL so that will keep him out awhile, doubt he'll be ready by the start of the new season
