    #2
    TEAM Player DETAILS

1 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS Robert Gallery
    OT
Iowa The Chargers need to beef up the offensive line, and this guy will protect Breese. Despite what fans may think, Marty has no time to develop a QB in a new system.

    2 OAKLAND RAIDERS Larry Fitzgerald
    WR
Pittsburgh The Raiders need help in many areas, but this guy is someone you simply cannot pass on. They'll look for a QB to develop later in the draft.

    3 ARIZONA CARDINALS Eli Manning
    QB
Ole Miss Arizona now realizes that Jake Plummer was not the problem. They need to stablize. Manning will begin the stablizing.

    4 N.Y Giants Ben Roethlisberger
    QB
Miami(Ohio) The Draft Exchange originally selected OT Shawn Andrews at this position, as a safer bet. But more analysis and a look at the organization's draft history tells us that the Giants will take a gamble on the big QB from the MAC.

    5 Washington Tommie Harris
    DT
Oklahoma Best DT in the draft. Time for some rethinking by Snyder's gang. Redskins plan to go after one of the talented FA QBs that can offer instant help.

    6 Detroit Sean Taylor
    S
Miami If Millen can come away with the guy experts think is the best defensive player in the draft, he'll be very happy. RB Kevin Jones would be the selection if Taylor is gone.

    7 Cleveland
(tie - coin flip) Shawn Andrews
    OT
Alabama A need pick for the Browns. However the Browns also need to introduce more offensive weapons - so TE Winslow or WR Roy Williams are also possibilities.

    8 Atlanta
(tie - coin flip) Roy Williams
    WR
Texas Vick needs a co-star, Roy Williams is a great choice. Need more proof? Well, take a guy with great size combined with vertical leap and you've got a perfect fit for Atlanta. Williams' long stride make him look effortless in the breakaway. Extremely agile for a man his size, near-perfect body control, and has amazing "missability" with an almost-patented spin-move. Expect more fireworks in Atlanta.

    9 Jacksonville Reggie Williams
    WR
Washington Byron Leftwich needs a co-star also. Williams is a superb choice for the Jags. He is a physical beast who can be totally overpowering, has fine hands combined with phenomenal vertical and extremely aggressive style

    10 Houston Kellen Winslow
    TE
Miami The Texans are getting closer and closer to respectibility. Winslow can be an instant ingredient to the Texan offense. If not Winslow, perhaps the Texans will look at DT Wilfolk of Miami.

    11 Pittsburgh Kevin Jones
    RB
Virginia Tech Steelers will have to trade up to secure Roethlisberger, a guy they want for their QB of the future. But they also need to replace the Bus and Zereoue isn;t the answer. So they'll take the local hero Jones over nearly equally talented Steven Jackson.

    12 NY Jets D.J. Williams
    LB
Miami Make way for the new Jets linebacker, D.J. Williams. They Jets will be hard pressed to afford Mo Lewis, Marvin Jones and Sam Cowart. So the Jets will use their first pick to help solidify the core of their defense for years. D.J. Williams is a great package: size, strength and quickness.

    13 Buffalo Bills Will Smith
    DE
Ohio State The best player available from the needs list is playmaker Will Smith. The Bills hope this guy will be the next Bruce Smith. Will is a dominating pass rusher with a variety of moves, good agility, hands, change of direction and quick out of his stance. AFC East QBs be warned.

    14 Chicago Bears Vince Wilfork
    DT
Miami Very powerful and very quick, exceptional use of his hands in the trenches, can be used as a pass rusher or run plugger, has good lateral movement. He could be easily a top 5 pick IF he contolled his weight. Rated the nation’s #2 defensive tackle by The Sporting News entering 2003. Dominating player in the mold of former Miami greats Warren Sapp, Cortez Kennedy and Russell Maryland.

15 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Antonio Hall
    OT
Kentucky The Bucs have a few needs on their shopping list, but are in desperate need of a offensive tackle. Hall can step right in as he is durable, has good size, fast to react, has quick feet, good technique, leverage, and is athletic. He is effective against both the run and pass. Hall is a great individual who has already made a mark in community service. An outstanding prospect with upside.

16 San Francisco 49ers De Angelo Hall
    CB
Virginia Tech The Niners' defense has lacked a solid cornerback tandem for some time now. Hall is the answer, and he'll be ready to start in 2005. Blazing speed, reportedly ran a 4.19 in spring practice. Big play CB with a flare for the dramatic. Electrifying return man. Strong against the run. Breaks on the pass well, excellent recovery speed. Good in transition off the line and stays with the receiver.

    17 Cincinnati Bengals Jonathan Vilma
    MLB
Miami A Marvin Lewis Pick! An outstanding prospect that has excellent potential. He could, once he bulks up, play any of the three LB positions successfully in the NFL. He would also work out well in a 3-4 scheme as a blitzer off the edge. He has very few limitations.

18 New Orleans Saints Derrick Johnson
    OLB
Texas With a 6’4” big frame, once he hits a pro strengthening and nutritional program, he should become a physical specimen at LB. I think he could play at 245-250 and yet maintain his excellent speed. He has the proper attitude and work ethics to excel in the NFL at all 3 LB positions. No doubt this guy has a full tool chest.

    19 Minnesota Vikings Kenechi Udeze
    DE
USC Assuming he enters the 2004 draft, a team Such as the Vikings needing a solid defensive end who will be disruptive against the pass and supportive against the run will take this guy off the board quickly. He has great athleticism and loads of potential to develop into a very successful NFL player. Already a natural pass rusher, it will not take long for him to be the complete package.

    20 Miami Phillip Rivers
    QB
North Carolina State Rivers, a four year starter at North Carolina State and the 2003 ACC player of the year, has put up tremendous numbers. While he had another excellent season this year (4016 YDS, 29 TD, 7 INT), it has to be considered somewhat of a disappointment, considering some experts picked them as potential national champions, after they creamed Notre Dame last bowl season in what I believe was Phillip Rivers best game.

    21 New England
    (From Ravens) Steven Jackson
    RB
Oregon State University He is primarily a north/south runner who is patient and uses his blockers well. He has great power and can carry the pile, but is elusive enough to make tacklers miss and deals out a lot of punishment with stiff arms. He will get good yardage after the initial hit and break many a tackle. He rarely fumbles the ball which is an obvious plus.

    22 Dallas Chris Snee
    OG
Boston College Ok, now why is he so good? He is a mauler who is never happy to just block you, he wants to bury you in the turf. He has a combination of strength and technique that is just awesome. Extremely quick off the snap, he gets his hands up immediately, keeps low and squared up, and knows how to use angles to his advantage. A team leader who will pull to assist his team mates in their assignments. Has excelled for 3 years at his position in college and is ready to move on. There is no reason I can see he would stay at BC. The time is perfect to declare.

    23 Seattle Seahawks David Pollack
    DE
from Georgia Pollack has already become an excellent pass rusher in his short two years as a starter at DE. He did not play DE until converted from DT in his sophomore year. It leaves him in a developmental state but will be attractive to the GMs because of his physical skills and tremendous potential, being able to contribute immediately in the pass rush and should develop quickly against the run. He is a tenacious player with a good motor and will adept well to the NFL.

24 Green Bay Packers Derrick Strait
    CB
Oklahoma Probably the best pure cover corner in college football. Great field awareness and a solid playmaker. Although he is fast but not in the elite speed group and though being listed at 5' 11" some question his height.

    25 Denver Broncos Rashaun Woods
    WR
Oklahoma State Perhaps the best way to describe Woods is to compare him to Marvin Harrison. Like Harrison, he doesn't look like a superstar standing still or when you look at his measurables. But if you're focusing on his measurables, you'll probably be still wondering about them after he's just ripped your secondary apart.

    26 Carolina Panthers Marlin Jackson
    CB
Michigan Extremely confident in his game. Above average strength for a CB and uses it to jam at the LOS. Has the size and speed of a top NFL CB. Athletic, playmaker who can change the complexion of a game. Technically sound, Sticks to receivers out of their routes.

27 St. Louis Rams Vernon Carey
    OT
Miami (FL) He is a huge man that has exceptional lower body strength, balance, & drive. Very experienced & “NFL” ready OT. Quick and agile for a man his size, he has good technique and is a “mauler” when blocking the run or pass.

    28 Tennessee Titans Lee Evans
    WR
Wisconson Might be the toughest receiver in the draft, very strong for his size and fights for every ball that comes his way. Excellent leap compensates for lack of inches, loves going over the middle, uncanny knack of getting open. Explosive acceleration.

    29 Indianapolis Colts Randy Starks
    DT
Maryland Starks is a classic Dungy Pick! Aggressive, physical strength, instinctive, athletic, plays with emotion, swift first step, solid presence up the middle. Starks will be the #1 DT in the draft after the combines. He's a beast, strong as a bull who plays with emotion and attitude.

30 Kansas City Chiefs Darnell Dockett
    DT
Florida State Explosive off the line, good motor, plays low for leverage, great closing speed.

    31 Philadelphia Eagles Keary Colbert
    WR
USC Quite polished, not many weaknesses to his game. Extremely safe hands, and always seems to know where the first down marker is. Shows up every week, and is a ferociously physical receiver with a FB mentality. Excellent blocker.

32 New England Patriots Chris Gamble
    CB
Ohio St. Great height and athleticism, Fluid and has an eye for the ball. Big Play maker. Inexperienced, has only played 1 full season at CB. A little light in Weight and not a big tackler. will need time to develop OSU WR that switched to CB to fill a team need and has excelled. needs to add some bulk and refine his technique. has the tools and natural ability to be an elit Corner.

This source has a few mock drafts, 1 with us getting Troupe, one with Michael clayton, and one with Michael Jenkins, and another with PJ Losman. I highly doubt Losman in 1st round

          1. San Diego Chargers: Eli Manning, QB, Ole Miss

You can certainly make a case that the Chargers have more pressing needs than a quarterback but the golden rule of the NFL Draft is that unless you already have one you don't pass on a potential franchise signal caller. Drew Brees failed to step up in his third season and I think the Chargers actions spoke volumes about how they feel about his future when they continued to start the 41-year-old Doug Flutie despite already being eliminated from playoff contention. Eli is actually more physically gifted than his brother Peyton, with a stronger arm and better athleticism, not to mention being a true field general. I expect the Chargers to get a lot of interest from teams such as Arizona and Pittsburgh who would love to move up for the chance to add a quarterback prospect of Manning's caliber.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          2. Oakland Raiders: Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Pittsburgh

The Raiders could go a number of ways here but I think it will boil down to a quarterback or wide receiver. One school of thought would say that the Raiders need to take this opportunity to nab a franchise signal caller to develop behind Rich Gannon and I can't really argue with that, but the bottom line is Al Davis wants to win immediately if not sooner and an impact wideout like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams will help them do just that while a quarterback is more of a long-term option. Fitzgerald, doesn't have that extra gear speed-wise but more than makes up for it with his athleticism, size, technique, hands, body control and intangibles. Simply put, Fitzgerald is an elite prospect and one of the best wideout prospects to come down the pipe in years. I am including Fitzgerald in this mock draft even though he is only a true sophomore because he attended a prep school after his senior year of high school, thus making it three years since his high school class graduated. Word is Fitzgerald will submit his name for the 2004 Draft and would likely be allowed in.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          3. Arizona Cardinals: Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Miami (OH)

Thanks to their thrilling last second win over the Vikings in week seventeen the Cardinals dropped from the #1 overall pick to #3, possibly costing themselves a chance at the franchise quarterback they so desperately need. In this scenario Arizona is fortunate enough to land Roethlisberger, who many rate as on par or even higher than Eli Manning. This guy was one of the most underrated players in college football this past season and has everything you look for in a star quarterback, including a strong arm, ideal size, pinpoint accuracy and sneaky athleticism. Jeff Blake proved he isn't the answer and while Josh McCown played admirably down the stretch his long-term potential is questionable at best. Needless to say, if the Cardinals are lucky enough to have a shot at Manning or Roethlisberger they had better jump all over it. If the quarterbacks are off the board they may look to guys like Tommie Harris and Will Smith who would strengthen their porous defensive line.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          4. New York Giants: Shawn Andrews, OT, Arkansas

The Giants have lost a lot of key players along the offensive line over the past few years who they have failed to replace, which caught up with them in a big way in 2003 when their lack of quality and depth was seriously exposed on a weekly basis. While Robert Gallery is generally considered the Draft's top tackle New York already has a left tackle in Luke Petitgout so I think Shawn Andrews would be the best option. A massive road grader at right tackle, Andrews absolutely dominates his opponent in the running game and while there are concerns about his pass blocking and weight this guy has the potential to be an elite right tackle or even move inside to guard, a la Leonard Davis. It really isn't their Draft philosophy to take offensive lineman this high but I don't see how the Giants can afford to pass on a talent like Andrews that addresses such a glaring need.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          5. Washington Redskins: Kellen Winslow Jr, TE, Miami (FL)

The Redskins will be undergoing an offensive overhaul this off-season now that Steve Spurrier has left town. Spurrier didn't really utilize the tight end in his "Fun & Gun" which partially explains the lack of an impact player at the position on the roster. Winslow has the speed, athleticism and hands of a wide receiver but in a tight end's body. Simply put, this guy just may be the best tight end prospect the NFL Draft has ever seen and is truly a special prospect. Winslow has raised some red flags with his attitude and actions this past season but the bottom line is that he is a rare talent and should be off the board in the top 5-10 picks overall. The Redskins will also need a premier running back with Joe Gibbs in town but this may be a little too high but they could also look to address their needs along the defensive line with guys such as Will Smith, Kenechi Udeze or Tommie Harris.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          6. Detroit Lions: Sean Taylor, S, Miami (FL)

The Lions have some key building blocks on defense but one area where they need to upgrade is at safety where only Terrence Holt has any long term potential. Taylor is a physical freak who is built like a Greek god, runs like a gazelle and is a playmaker in every sense of the word. In 2002 I thought Roy Williams was the best safety prospect I had ever seen but Taylor is even better, which is amazing when you consider what Williams has accomplished in only his second season with the Dallas Cowboys. I have no doubts that Taylor will be one of the elite players at his position very early on in his NFL career. Detroit could also look at a wideout like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams here if Bill Schroeder is released, as has been rumored.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          7. Atlanta Falcons: Tommie Harris, DT, Oklahoma

The Falcons will likely be switching back to a more traditional 4-3 defense which will necessitate the addition of an impact defensive tackle where Ellis Johnson is nearing retirement and Ed Jasper is average at best. Tommie Harris has been an impact player for the Sooners since his true freshman season and while his statistics may not jump out at you rest assured that Harris is an elite NFL prospect. Atlanta may also opt to bring aboard another weapon for Michael Vick and someone to compliment Peerless Price if a guy like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams is still on the board but remember, their new coach Jim Mora, Jr. is a defensive guy.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          8. Cleveland Browns: Robert Gallery, OT, Iowa

There is little doubt that one of the Browns top off-season priorities will be to upgrade their offensive line and what better way to do that than by selection the consensus top left tackle in the Draft. I'm not ready to say he is in the Tony Boselli/Jon Ogden/Orlando Pace category just yet but he is just a notch below, which isn't bad. This choice allows the Browns to shuffle their offensive line and move Ross Verba and Ryan Tucker to positions they would be better suited for. Another option for Cleveland could be Kellen Winslow, who would give them the impact tight end they lack and who Butch Davis should be familiar with from his days down in Coral Gables. Word is Cleveland is already targeting Gallery and they would be very fortunate to land him with this pick.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Roy Williams, WR, Texas

The Jaguars have a couple of solid starting receivers in Jimmy Smith and Kevin Johnson but Smith isn't getting any younger and Johnson is more of a #2 option. Williams could have been a high first round pick in 2003 but he returned to Texas for his senior season and is right back in the early first round mix again in 2004. Had he come out last year his grade would have been right on par with those of Charles Rogers and Andre Johnson, the #2 and #3 overall picks respectively. Williams has a freakish combination of size, speed and athleticism and while he didn't necessarily put up eye-popping numbers for the Longhorns like Larry Fitzgerald did for Pitt you can attribute that to his teams' conservative offensive approach. Williams has everything you look for in an elite NFL wideout and will be an impact player very early on in his pro career.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          10. Houston Texans: Kenechi Udeze, DE, U.S.C.

The Texans boasted one of the worst run defenses in the NFL this year and even if Gary Walker isn't cut in a salary cap move and Seth Payne is able to return to his pre-injury form there is still a need for an infusion of young talent. Even though he is raw and still developing Udeze is quite the prospect and as a former defensive tackle he has the size to handle end in a 3-4 scheme while also providing value as an explosive pass rusher as well. Udeze is one of the hottest names in the Draft right now and his stock is soaring on the heels of a standout performance in the Rose Bowl (3 sacks). If, however, safety Sean Taylor were to somehow fall this far I think Houston would jump all over him.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          11. Pittsburgh Steelers: Steven Jackson, RB, Oregon St.

Word is some in the Steelers organization have become enamored with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and with good reason. Unfortunately for them the only way they will have a prayer at landing him is to trade up and to go that high (top 3-5 overall) would not be a cheap proposition. There are also rumors that Pittsburgh could be interested in acquiring Drew Henson's rights from the Texans so that may be an option as well. For years the Steelers offense has revolved around a strong running game but with Jerome Bettis nearing the end of his career and Amos Zereoue failing to distinguish himself they just don't have the horses to run that race these days. When all is said and done I think Jackson will be the first running back off the board because he has the best combination of size and speed. This choice will give Pittsburgh the running game they need and take a lot of pressure off of Tommy Maddox.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          12. New York Jets: Will Smith, DE, Ohio St.

With John Abraham moving to strong-side linebacker a hole has opened up at defensive end. Shaun Ellis really emerged in 2003 but on the other side they plan on starting Bryan Thomas as of now, a former first round pick who has been a bust up to this point. Will Smith is the consensus top defensive end in this Draft and if he were to fall this far I think the Jets would have to pull the trigger. Smith could have been a mid to late first rounder last year but he returned to Ohio St. for his senior season and now looks to be one of the elite defensive players available in 2004. Quick and athletic, Smith excels at putting pressure on the quarterback.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          13. Buffalo Bills: Ben Troupe, TE, Florida

To say the Buffalo Bills offense was disappointing in 2003 would be the understatement of the year. After lighting up scoreboards across the league in 2002, Drew Bledsoe and company looked like a shell of their former selves this year. While it wouldn't cure all their ills, adding an athletic tight end like Troupe would sure be a step in the right direction and would help stretch the field and open things up for Eric Moulds, Josh Reed and Bobby Shaw. Troupe kind of gets lost in the mix because this Draft also includes a potential star in Kellen Winslow but this guy isn't a bad prospect in his own right. Very explosive with great size and soft hands, Troupe would be an excellent addition for the Bills.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          14. Chicago Bears: Vince Wilfork, DT, Miami (FL)

To put the Bears pass rush (or lack thereof) in perspective, Michael Strahan had more sacks in 2003 than the entire Chicago defense. Wilfork is a massive tackle, too big if you ask some, and while he can plug the middle he also has the quickness to be a force as a pass rusher as well. Brian Urlacher wasn't himself this past season and part of that can be attributed to not having a big body like Ted Washington up front occupying blockers and allowing him to roam around and make plays. There has been some talk of Wilfork's stock dropping, possibly all the way to the end of round one, but while I don't see him being a top five overall pick as once expected I also don't see him falling much further than this.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Vernon Carey, OT-OG, Miami (FL)

The Bucs offensive line, namely Kenyatta Walker and Cosey Coleman, have tested Jon Gruden's patience on more than one occasion the past couple of seasons so I think the opportunity to draft a versatile offensive lineman like Carey, who could see action at either tackle or guard, would be music to the coach's ears. Some may argue that this is a reach because he didn't have as strong of a senior campaign at guard he did as a junior at tackle but you need only go back and look at film of him in 2002 to see a player who is very worthy of being a first round pick. I think Tampa would also have to consider a wide receiver like Reggie Williams or Michael Clayton here but word is Gruden is happy with Charles Lee starting alongside Keenan McCardell.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          16. San Francisco 49'ers: Reggie Williams, WR, Washington

Terrell Owens' return next season is very doubtful at best and Tai Streets may be on his way out of town as well so there will be a major hole at wide receiver in the Bay Area. You have to figure the Niners would love to get their hands on Williams, who has everything you look for in a top wideout including great size and athleticism. In fact, the only question with Williams is his speed and if he can run well in workouts he could very easily end up being a top ten overall pick. As it stands, with questions about his speed unanswered, Williams represents a solid value in the middle of round one and would be a perfect fit for the 49'ers.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          17. Cincinnati Bengals: Chris Gamble, CB, Ohio St.

The Bengals essentially conceded their interest in upgrading at cornerback when they flirted with the notion of taking Kansas State's Terence Newman with the first overall pick last year before eventually settling on Carson Palmer. While Gamble is by no means a finished product he has as much potential as any cornerback out there and I feel he could eventually end up being one of the best players to come out of this Draft. With great size, speed and amazing athleticism the only thing this guy is lacking is experience at the position because he played a lot of wideout early on with the Buckeyes. In fact, this year was the first season he played cornerback the majority of the time and while he did give up some big plays he also showed flashes of the potential that will earn him a spot in the middle of round one.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          18. New Orleans Saints: Dunta Robinson, CB, South Carolina

When the Saints traded up with Arizona to acquire the #6 overall pick in last years Draft most thought their goal was to land Washington St. cornerback Marcus Trufant. They are pleased with Johnathan Sullivan, but I don't think they would mind having a player like Trufant in their secondary either. Word is they have conceded the fact that an influx of young talent at corner should be a priority so choosing a player like Robinson would make complete sense at this point in round one. This guy came through with a great senior season and while he isn't a finished product just yet he has the size, speed and athletic ability to be a very good pro defensive back.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          19. Minnesota Vikings: DeAngelo Hall, CB, Virginia Tech

The Vikings desperately need to upgrade their defense and a top cornerback and impact pass rusher top their list of priorities. Hall doesn't have ideal size but he may be the fastest, most athletic player in the entire Draft, which would make him an ideal compliment to the bigger, more physical Brian Williams. This would also allow Minnesota to keep Denard Walker and Ken Irvin in backup roles, which they are best suited for. Hall is also a dynamic return man, an added plus since the Vikings could stand to upgrade there as well. A pass rusher like Kenechi Udeze or Will Smith would also be very tempting if they were still available, as would a speedy linebacker like Jonathan Vilma.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          20. Miami Dolphins: Michael Clayton, WR, L.S.U.

Chris Chambers emerged as one of the elite young wide receivers in the league in 2003 but no one else really stepped up on the other side to compliment him. With great size and athleticism, Clayton is a big reason Louisiana St. was co-National Champions this year and looks to be a solid first round pick if he comes out as long as he can post a respectable forty time in workouts. If his times are sub par, however, Clayton could fall to the end of round one. The Dolphins could also consider a young signal caller such as J.P. Losman to develop as a backup plan in case Jay Fiedler isn't able to take the team to the next level.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          21. New England Patriots (f/BAL): Kevin Jones, RB, Virginia Tech

The Patriots really need a stud running back who they can give the ball to twenty times a game so they should be very happy to find a talent like Jones still on the board. Antowain Smith hasn't been the same since he got a new contract after the Pats Super Bowl run and seems to be in Bill Belichick's doghouse more often than not while Kevin Faulk is best suited for a role as a third-down back. Jones has just about everything you look for in a franchise back and he will battle Steven Jackson and Cadillac Williams to be the first running back off the board on Draft Day. New England could also opt to address another need with this pick and hope a top back falls to them late in the round but that may be too big of a risk with a talent like Jones available here.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          22. Dallas Cowboys: Dwan Edwards, DT, Oregon St.

With Cadillac Williams going back to school the running back crop took a hit the Cowboys may have to look to the veteran market for a runner with names like Corey Dillon, Garrison Hearst and Curtis Martin often mentioned. If Dallas doesn't go running back in round one they will likely go defensive line since Parcell's has made no secret of his desire to add some beef in that area. Word is the Tuna loves Vince Wilfork but with him off the board he opts for Edwards, who is tough, has good closing speed and excels at collapsing the pocket. Edwards is a name a lot of people may not be aware of yet but, rest assured, they will be come April.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          23. Seattle Seahawks: Randy Starks, DT, Maryland

The Seahawks number one priority this off-season is to add a big-time pass rusher and with John Randle and Chad Eaton aging this pick would make a lot of sense. A raw, developing talent, Starks is extremely quick, powerful and athletic and has garnered some positive comparisons to Dewayne Robertson who last year saw his stock rise to the point where he was the #4 overall pick. I would be shocked if the Seahawks go anywhere other than defensive line in round one since that is their lone glaring weakness.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          24. Denver Broncos: Will Poole, CB, U.S.C.

The Broncos like Lenny Walls and Kelly Herndon and seem to feel they are starting caliber cornerbacks (I disagree), but even if that is the case they only have Jimmy Spencer, a player/coach, and a former first round bust in Willie Middlebrooks behind them. Needless to say they can't go wrong with taking a corner in round one and Poole has solidified himself as a legitimate first round prospect thanks to a strong senior campaign. Another option here could be at defensive tackle where Daryl Gardner's future with the team is very much in doubt and there is little quality or depth. Dwan Edwards and Marcus Tubbs are a couple of guys who project to come off the board in this general area who would be interesting options.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          25. Green Bay Packers: J.P. Losman, QB, Tulane

Brett Favre is not getting any younger and Green Bay has to begin preparing for life after their star quarterback retires. This Packers acknowledged the fact that they have an eye toward the future when they showed a lot of interest in Rex Grossman last year so it wouldn't be a shock to see them consider a quarterback in round one again in 2004. Losman has a lot of Favre-like qualities in that he has a strong arm, is very athletic and has a very confident demeanor on the field. Word is Phillip Rivers and Matt Schaub are creeping up in the quarterback rankings as well and while I don't think they have caught Losman or moved into round one just yet it is possible they could by Draft Day.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          26. Carolina Panthers: D.J. Williams, OLB, Miami (FL)

Mark Field's future with the team is in question as he battles Hodgkins Disease and while Will Witherspoon is solid on one side there is certainly room for an upgrade. Coming out of high school Williams considered one of the top prospects in the country and after jumping back and forth between fullback and linebacker early in his career he finally found a home on the defensive side of the ball. He is still developing and learning the nuances of the position but there is no denying that this guy has the physical tools to be an elite linebacker at the pro level. The Panthers may also opt to add a cornerback here with guys like Will Poole and Dunta Robinson being potential targets.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          27. St. Louis Rams: Jake Grove, C, Virginia Tech

I am sure the Rams would love to upgrade at cornerback here with Jerametrius Butler looking to be best suited for a nickel role but with all the top corners off the board they could opt to address their offensive line. St. Louis' offensive line has underachieved this year and while Dave Wohlabaugh is a serviceable center he is getting up there in years and there is certainly room for a prospect like Grove, who is one of the better center prospects to come along in a while. What really sets Grove apart is his demeanor on the field where he isn't satisfied with just to winning the battle, he wants to dominate his opponent.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          28. Tennessee Titans: Marcus Tubbs, DT, Texas

The Titans don't have a lot of glaring needs but they miss the defensive tackle rotation they lost when John Thornton left as a free agent and with Robaire Smith being a free agent this year that may be a position where they would like to bring in another body. Tubbs has been a force for the Longhorns since very early on in his career and he has come through with the type of senior campaign that looks to have secured him a spot in round one. Combining great size with top athletic ability and a strong base, Tubbs has all the physical tools you look for and would be a great addition in Tennessee and would provide some much needed insurance in case Smith signs elsewhere or, at the very least, replenish their depth at the position.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          29. Indianapolis Colts: Derrick Strait, CB, Oklahoma

I don't care what anybody says, if this guy isn't a first round pick it will be a travesty. Granted he may not be as big or fast as you would prefer but Strait is a football player, plain and simple. I compare him very favorably to Antoine Winfield, who was a first round pick for the Bills back in 1998. An added bonus with Strait is that he, like Winfield, is a major force in run support as well. Strait should be a good fit in Indy's Cover 2 defensive scheme because Dungy has been known to take defensive backs with less than ideal triangular numbers and make players out of them, i.e. Mike Doss most recently.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          30. Kansas City Chiefs: Devard Darling, WR, Washington St.

The Chiefs had one of the worst run defenses in the NFL in 2003 which is something that must be addressed this off-season but with both Dwan Edwards and Marcus Tubbs off the board they may have to look elsewhere. After initially stating his intentions to return for his senior season Darling changed his mind and entered the Draft. While he could have been a much higher pick in 2005, I think he could still sneak into late round one, with Kansas City an ideal situation. The Chiefs wideouts are solid, but they lack that true, game-breaking #1 receiver which Darling has the potential to be. He is still raw, but you can't questions Darling's size and athleticism and he is a guy who just knows how to get in the endzone. He won't be forced into a starting role immediately in Kansas City and with the right coaching he could end up being a major steal here.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          31. Philadelphia Eagles: Jonathan Vilma, ILB, Miami (FL)

Vilma isn't as big as you would prefer but he is fast, athletic, and super instinctive, attributes which more than make up for his lack of the preferred physical characteristics. In fact, he may be one of the better pure football players in this Draft. The Eagles starting linebackers are solid but you can make an argument that none are great and their depth is severely lacking. Vilma is just the type of speedy linebacker Philly favors for its scheme and he would be a valuable backup both inside and outside early on before eventually wrestling away a starting spot. The Eagles could also look to upgrade at wide receiver where they lack that true #1 option.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          32. New England Patriots: Karlos Dansby, OLB, Auburn

I think this would be an ideal choice for the Patriots, not to mention an absolute steal at the end of round one. Dansby is a tall, rangy outside linebacker who moved over from safety where he played early on in his college career. Equally adept at rushing the passer and dropping into coverage, Dansby would be a perfect fit in New England's 3-4 defense at outside linebacker. Another option for the Pats here could be to address the offensive line where they could really stand to add some depth. Either way look for Scott Pioli to find a player who fits their system and if he can draft half as well in 2004 as he did last year Patriots fans should be extremely happy.

*First-round trade: The Chargers trade the No.1 overall pick to the Arizona Cardinals for their first- (no. 3 overall), second-, and third-round picks.

                        1. San Diego Chargers - Eli Manning, QB Mississippi
Will the Chargers give Brees another chance or will they go for the franchise QB?

                        2. Oakland Raiders - Roy Williams, WR Texas
Williams has played a little soft this year, and it is debatable whether he, Reggie Williams, or Michael Clayton is the best receiver in this year's draft.

                        3. Arizona Cardinals - Ben Roethlisberger, QB Miami (Ohio)
Jeff Blake is not a long-term solution if the Cardinals hope to ever turn things around, and some consider Roethlisberger to be the best quarterback in college. He's a pocket passer with a strong arm and the good size NFL teams like.

                        4. Atlanta Falcons - Robert Gallery, OT Iowa
The Falcons need to get Michael Vick an offensive tackle and a wide receiver, and Gallery is the more valuable of the two at this point.

                        5. Jacksonville Jaguars - Sean Taylor, S Miami
This guy covers like cornerback and hits like a linebacker. Should develop into an All-Pro safety.

                        6. Pittsburgh Steelers - Steven Jackson, RB Oregon State
The Steelers need serious help in their secondary, but they also need to start thinking about their future at running back. Jackson is the best all-around back this year.

                        7. Detroit Lions - Kevin Jones, RB Virginia Tech
Detroit needs help in a lot of areas, and a homerun hitter at running back would take a lot of pressure off quarterback Joey Harrington. He hasn't been used much in the passing game, but I think he can adjust to the west coast offense.

                        8. Cleveland Browns - Kellen Winslow Jr., TE Miami
Offensive line is more of a need, but a talent like Winslow would be tough to pass on at this point.

                        9. Washington Redskins - Tommie Harris, DT Oklahoma
The Redskins need a defensive tackle and a defensive end. Harris could play either for them.

                        10. Chicago Bears - Shawn Andrews, OT Arkansas
The Bears offensive line has come around the second half of the season, but lack of depth has hurt them the last two seasons. A healthy Marc Columbo and Andrews would give them a very solid pair of young tackles.

                        11. New York Giants - D.J. Williams, OLB Miami (Fla)
The Giants need a lot of help on the offensive line, but with the top-two tackles off the board, they'll look elsewhere. Williams looks to me like he is going to be an impact player in the NFL.

                        12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Reggie Williams, WR Washington
The Bucs could use an infusion of youth at wide receiver, although they could elect to go with a defensive tackle if they allow Warren Sapp to walk at the end of the season.

                        13. San Francisco 49ers - Vince Wilfork, DT Miami (Fla)
Wilfork has been playing a little soft and looks to be a little out of shape, otherwise, he would probably be a top-five pick. I think he should go back to school for another year to re-establish himself and get into better playing shape, but reports indicate he is leaning toward coming out this year.

                        14. New York Jets - DeAngleo Hall, CB Virginia Tech
Hall has tremendous speed, a 38-inch vertical jump, and all the tools to be a shut-down corner in the NFL.

                        15. Houston Texans - Randy Starks, DT Maryland
I think the Texans would like to snag a big nose tackle, but I doubt Wilfork will drop this far. If they don't package a deal to move up, I'd look for them to take the next best tackle.

                        16. Buffalo Bills - Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma State
Even if Josh Reed proves he can fill the No. 2 role, the Bills still need to add another receiver

                        17. Cincinnati Bengals - Vince Wilfork, DT Miami (Fla)
Thornton and Williams are solid in the middle, but Wilfork is too good of a defensive talent for Marvin Lewis to pass on. He has been playing a little soft and looks to be a little out of shape, otherwise, he would probably be a top-five pick

                        18. New Orleans Saints - Will Poole, CB USC
The Saints are giving up more than 300 yards per game through the air, so help in the defensive backfield only makes sense. Poole didn't get into the starting lineup until earlier this season, but he developed into one of the top cover corners in the country.

                        19. Minnesota Vikings - D.J. Williams, OLB Miami (Fla)
The Vikings need more speed at linebacker and Williams has tremendous potential as an impact linebacker. He has the strength to take on offensive linemen and the speed to range from sideline to sideline, chasing down running backs. He also has the ability to be as effective in pass coverage as he is rushing the quarterback.

                        20. Miami Dolphins - Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma State
Woods is not the most athletic receiver in the draft, but he is probably the most polished. And as we saw in 2003 with Anquan Boldin, a wide receiver does not have to have a blazing 40 time to make an impact in the NFL. I think he would make a great complement to Chris Chambers. A quarterback like Tulane's J.P. Losman is a good possibility here as well.

                        21. New England Patriots (from Baltimore) - Karlos Dansby OLB, Auburn
The Patriots are in the enviable position of not having many holes to fill, so they have the luxury of taking the best player available, even if he doesn't fill an immediate need. Dansby looks to me like another guy that is going to be an impact linebacker in the NFL. He has great agility and speed, and is fantastic in pass coverage.

                        22. Dallas Cowboys - Dwan Edwards, DT Oregon State
The Cowboys have a big need at running back, but I'm not sure they'd get much more for their pick here than they would taking one of the backs that will be around in the second round. Bill Parcells would like to add some beef to the defensive line, and Edwards is a nice fit.

                        23. Seattle Seahawks - Randy Starks, DT Maryland
The Seahawks need an upgrade at defensive tackle, and Starks could be a great value here. He has tremendous lower-body strength and should be a force against the run.

                        24. Denver Broncos - Ben Troupe, TE Florida
Troupe is a tight end in the mold of a Shannon Sharpe, and since Sharpe is at/near the end of his career, he's a perfect fit for the Broncos.

                        25. Green Bay Packers - Marcus Tubbs, DT Texas
The Packers did a nice job of solidifying their defensive line with the addition of DT Grady Jackson during the 2003 season, but I think the position will still be high on the team's list of priorities in April. Tubbs is a borderline first rounder, but he has tons of potential and tremendous athletic ability for his size.

                        26. Carolina Panthers - Lee Evans, WR Wisconsin
Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad have played well for the Panthers in the playoffs, but they are inconsistent. Evans has the ability to develop into the consistent playmaker the Panthers lack.

                        27. St. Louis Rams - Dunta Robinson, CB South Carolina
Jerametrius Butler is a restricted free agent, and he has been unreliable at times. Robinson, who has decent size, very good speed, and the coverage skills to be a shut-down corner in the NFL, would be a huge improvement.

                        28. Tennessee Titans - Nat Dorsey, OT Georgia Tech
Hopkins and Miller are 33 and 30 respectively, so it's time the Titans bring in some young talent. Dorsey is a huge left tackle and an excellent blocker in both the run and pass offense.

                        29. Indianapolis Colts - Derrick Strait, CB Oklahoma
Defensive tackle is a bigger need, but Strait is probably a better value (and fills a need) than any of the DTs still on the board.

                        30. Kansas City Chiefs - Ricardo Colclough, CB Tusculum
It's tough to get noticed at Tusculum, but Colclough has been absolutely dominating. This guy should really climb the draft boards during post-season workouts.

                        31. Philadelphia Eagles - Jonathan Vilma, OLB Miami (Fla)
The Eagles should try to find McNabb a bona fide receiver, but I think they will wait until the second or third round and take what they can get. Vilma would help to once again solidify the Eagles linebacking corps. He is a very intelligent, quick thinking, instinctive linebacker who is ranked as a top-15 pick on many draft boards.

                        32. New England Patriots - Chris Perry, RB Michigan
The Patriots need to upgrade at running back, and Perry appears to be working himself into a possible late first-round selection. The Patriots could also pull a bit of a surprise here and take the power-running style of Florida State's Greg Jones.

Will Smith is a Upstate New Yorker, from Proctor High School in Utica. (played at Ohio State) He's known to be a great pass rusher, but had a weekness, and a big one. He sucks against the run. The down side of this kid is not only can't he stuff the run, but there were games where you never even heard his name mentioned. Looks like if you play this kid right, you can shut him down easy and this is the pros, not college.

                              1. San Diego Chargers Eli Manning Mississippi QB
The Chargers have all but given up on Drew Brees and will get a sure thing with Eli Manning or they will end up with another bust like Ryan Leaf.
Team Needs: Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Linebacker

                              2. Oakland Raiders Ben Roethlisberger Miami (OH) QB
The ailing Raiders are in desperate need of some good young talent and what better way to start than with a young strong armed quarterback.
Team Needs: Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Defensive Back

                              3. Arizona Cardinals Robert Gallery Iowa OT
Unless the Cardinals trade their pick in hopes of getting a Quarterback look for them to beef up the offensive line and grab a Quarterback in the 2nd round.
                              Team Needs: Everything

                              4. New York Giants Sean Taylor Miami S
Taylor is one of the best and most entertaining defensive players in the draft. Look for the Giants to have an instant upgrade in their defensive backfield with Taylor.
Team Needs: Quarterback, Defensive Back, Linebacker

                              5. Washington Redskins Kellen Winslow Jr. Miami TE
Dan Snyder won't let a sure Pro Bowler slip past him. The Skins have been looking for a Tight End for years and will get their man in "The Chosen One"

Team Needs: Tight End, Defensive Line, Offensive Line

                              6. Detroit Lions Kevin Jones Virginia Tech RB
Lions get worse and worse, hopefully Kevin Jones may shed some light to this struggling team. Also don't be surprised if the Lions traded down for more picks, they could still trade down and select...............running back ..........Michael "Burner" Turner.
                              Team Needs: Completely new team

                              7. Atlanta Falcons Roy Williams Texas WR
Roy Williams would be a perfect fit for the Falcons at the 7th pick. With Williams lined up along side Peerless Price and Vick back in the pocket the Falcons could be a large force next year.
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Offensive Line, Defensive Back

                              8. Cleveland Browns Shawn Andrews Arkansas OT
Yet once again the Browns will "WOW" their fans be taking an Offensive Lineman in the first round. Last year it was a center this year its a Tackle. GO BROWNS!
Team Needs: Offensive Line, Tight End, Linebacker

                              9. Jacksonville Jaguars Reggie Williams Washington WR
Although Roy Williams is thought of as the best receiver in the draft, Reggie Williams is not far behind. Williams would step right in at the no. 2 receiver slot in Jacksonville.
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Offensive Line, Defensive Back

                              10. Houston Texans Keneche Udeze USC DE
Since declaring for the draft Udeze has watched his stock rise ever so rapidly. He would be a great large, sweaty body to put on the weak defensive line of the Texans. He could add a little pizzazz to the slow boring Houston "D".
Team Needs: Defensive Back, Defensive Line, Linebacker

                              11. Pittsburgh Steelers Steven Jackson Oregon St. RB
Jackson can step in right away and start right away, and hopefully send the Bus out to pasture.
Team Needs: Running Back, Offensive Line, Defensive Line

                              12. New York Jets Michael Clayton LSU WR
The Jets will jump all over Michael Clayton to line up alongside Santana Moss. With Clayton in the Jets offensive mix Pennington could have a huge year.
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Tight End, Offensive Line

                              13. Buffalo Bills Ben Troupe Florida TE
The Bills desperately need a tight end. They will be keeping their fingers crossed for Winslow but won't think twice about grabbing Troupe.
Team Needs: Tight End, Quarterback, Wide Receiver

                              14. Chicago Bears Vince Wilfork Miami DT
With the drafting of Michael Haynes last year the Bears will add Wilfork to the mix and have one of the youngest defensive lines in the league.
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Offensive Line

                              15. Tampa Bay Bucs Tommie Harris Oklahoma St. DT
Tommie Harris will add another presense to go along with Simeon Rice. With two pass rushing D-Lineman they won't have to worry resigning Warren Sapps old ass.
Team Needs: Offensive Line, Wide Receiver, Running Back

                              16. San Francisco 49ers DeAngelo Hall Virginia Tech CB
The 49ers will look at taking a defensive player, they will be hoping for Hall or Strait, but don't be surprised if they took an offensive lineman if the right one fell to them.
Team Needs: Defensive Back, Linebacker, Offensive Line

                              17. Cincinnati Bengals Chris Gamble Ohio St. CB
After the Bengals downfall at the end of the season Marvin Lewis will look for the most athletic defensive player available and if Chris Gamble is still around he will be his man.
Team Needs: Defensive Back, Linebacker, Defensive Line

                              18. New Orleans Saints Jonathon Vilma Miami LB
Vilma is an underrated Linebacker who could add a lot of speed to New Orleans slow ailing defense.
Team Needs: Offensive Line, Linebacker, Defensive Back

                              19. Minnesota Vikings Will Smith Ohio St. DE
The Vikings will be looking to continue upgrading the defensive line. By adding Smith it will help free up Hovan and soon to be second year man Kevin Williams.
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Defensive Back, Wide Receiver

                              20. Miami Dolphins D.J. Williams Miami LB
Although the Dolphins may look to take a quarterback, it will be hard to pass up the hometown standout Linebacker.
Team Needs: Linebacker, Quarterback, Wide Receiver
