TEAM Player DETAILS

1 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS Robert Gallery
OT
Iowa The Chargers need to beef up the offensive line, and this guy will protect Breese. Despite what fans may think, Marty has no time to develop a QB in a new system.

2 OAKLAND RAIDERS Larry Fitzgerald
WR
Pittsburgh The Raiders need help in many areas, but this guy is someone you simply cannot pass on. They'll look for a QB to develop later in the draft.

3 ARIZONA CARDINALS Eli Manning
QB
Ole Miss Arizona now realizes that Jake Plummer was not the problem. They need to stablize. Manning will begin the stablizing.

4 N.Y Giants Ben Roethlisberger
QB
Miami(Ohio) The Draft Exchange originally selected OT Shawn Andrews at this position, as a safer bet. But more analysis and a look at the organization's draft history tells us that the Giants will take a gamble on the big QB from the MAC.

5 Washington Tommie Harris
DT
Oklahoma Best DT in the draft. Time for some rethinking by Snyder's gang. Redskins plan to go after one of the talented FA QBs that can offer instant help.

6 Detroit Sean Taylor
S
Miami If Millen can come away with the guy experts think is the best defensive player in the draft, he'll be very happy. RB Kevin Jones would be the selection if Taylor is gone.

7 Cleveland
(tie - coin flip) Shawn Andrews
OT
Alabama A need pick for the Browns. However the Browns also need to introduce more offensive weapons - so TE Winslow or WR Roy Williams are also possibilities.

8 Atlanta
(tie - coin flip) Roy Williams
WR
Texas Vick needs a co-star, Roy Williams is a great choice. Need more proof? Well, take a guy with great size combined with vertical leap and you've got a perfect fit for Atlanta. Williams' long stride make him look effortless in the breakaway. Extremely agile for a man his size, near-perfect body control, and has amazing "missability" with an almost-patented spin-move. Expect more fireworks in Atlanta.

9 Jacksonville Reggie Williams
WR
Washington Byron Leftwich needs a co-star also. Williams is a superb choice for the Jags. He is a physical beast who can be totally overpowering, has fine hands combined with phenomenal vertical and extremely aggressive style

10 Houston Kellen Winslow
TE
Miami The Texans are getting closer and closer to respectibility. Winslow can be an instant ingredient to the Texan offense. If not Winslow, perhaps the Texans will look at DT Wilfolk of Miami.

11 Pittsburgh Kevin Jones
RB
Virginia Tech Steelers will have to trade up to secure Roethlisberger, a guy they want for their QB of the future. But they also need to replace the Bus and Zereoue isn;t the answer. So they'll take the local hero Jones over nearly equally talented Steven Jackson.

12 NY Jets D.J. Williams
LB
Miami Make way for the new Jets linebacker, D.J. Williams. They Jets will be hard pressed to afford Mo Lewis, Marvin Jones and Sam Cowart. So the Jets will use their first pick to help solidify the core of their defense for years. D.J. Williams is a great package: size, strength and quickness.

13 Buffalo Bills Will Smith
DE
Ohio State The best player available from the needs list is playmaker Will Smith. The Bills hope this guy will be the next Bruce Smith. Will is a dominating pass rusher with a variety of moves, good agility, hands, change of direction and quick out of his stance. AFC East QBs be warned.

14 Chicago Bears Vince Wilfork
DT
Miami Very powerful and very quick, exceptional use of his hands in the trenches, can be used as a pass rusher or run plugger, has good lateral movement. He could be easily a top 5 pick IF he contolled his weight. Rated the nation’s #2 defensive tackle by The Sporting News entering 2003. Dominating player in the mold of former Miami greats Warren Sapp, Cortez Kennedy and Russell Maryland.

15 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Antonio Hall
OT
Kentucky The Bucs have a few needs on their shopping list, but are in desperate need of a offensive tackle. Hall can step right in as he is durable, has good size, fast to react, has quick feet, good technique, leverage, and is athletic. He is effective against both the run and pass. Hall is a great individual who has already made a mark in community service. An outstanding prospect with upside.

16 San Francisco 49ers De Angelo Hall
CB
Virginia Tech The Niners' defense has lacked a solid cornerback tandem for some time now. Hall is the answer, and he'll be ready to start in 2005. Blazing speed, reportedly ran a 4.19 in spring practice. Big play CB with a flare for the dramatic. Electrifying return man. Strong against the run. Breaks on the pass well, excellent recovery speed. Good in transition off the line and stays with the receiver.

17 Cincinnati Bengals Jonathan Vilma
MLB
Miami A Marvin Lewis Pick! An outstanding prospect that has excellent potential. He could, once he bulks up, play any of the three LB positions successfully in the NFL. He would also work out well in a 3-4 scheme as a blitzer off the edge. He has very few limitations.

18 New Orleans Saints Derrick Johnson
OLB
Texas With a 6’4” big frame, once he hits a pro strengthening and nutritional program, he should become a physical specimen at LB. I think he could play at 245-250 and yet maintain his excellent speed. He has the proper attitude and work ethics to excel in the NFL at all 3 LB positions. No doubt this guy has a full tool chest.

19 Minnesota Vikings Kenechi Udeze
DE
USC Assuming he enters the 2004 draft, a team Such as the Vikings needing a solid defensive end who will be disruptive against the pass and supportive against the run will take this guy off the board quickly. He has great athleticism and loads of potential to develop into a very successful NFL player. Already a natural pass rusher, it will not take long for him to be the complete package.

20 Miami Phillip Rivers
QB
North Carolina State Rivers, a four year starter at North Carolina State and the 2003 ACC player of the year, has put up tremendous numbers. While he had another excellent season this year (4016 YDS, 29 TD, 7 INT), it has to be considered somewhat of a disappointment, considering some experts picked them as potential national champions, after they creamed Notre Dame last bowl season in what I believe was Phillip Rivers best game.

21 New England
(From Ravens) Steven Jackson
RB
Oregon State University He is primarily a north/south runner who is patient and uses his blockers well. He has great power and can carry the pile, but is elusive enough to make tacklers miss and deals out a lot of punishment with stiff arms. He will get good yardage after the initial hit and break many a tackle. He rarely fumbles the ball which is an obvious plus.

22 Dallas Chris Snee
OG
Boston College Ok, now why is he so good? He is a mauler who is never happy to just block you, he wants to bury you in the turf. He has a combination of strength and technique that is just awesome. Extremely quick off the snap, he gets his hands up immediately, keeps low and squared up, and knows how to use angles to his advantage. A team leader who will pull to assist his team mates in their assignments. Has excelled for 3 years at his position in college and is ready to move on. There is no reason I can see he would stay at BC. The time is perfect to declare.

23 Seattle Seahawks David Pollack
DE
from Georgia Pollack has already become an excellent pass rusher in his short two years as a starter at DE. He did not play DE until converted from DT in his sophomore year. It leaves him in a developmental state but will be attractive to the GMs because of his physical skills and tremendous potential, being able to contribute immediately in the pass rush and should develop quickly against the run. He is a tenacious player with a good motor and will adept well to the NFL.

24 Green Bay Packers Derrick Strait
CB
Oklahoma Probably the best pure cover corner in college football. Great field awareness and a solid playmaker. Although he is fast but not in the elite speed group and though being listed at 5' 11" some question his height.

25 Denver Broncos Rashaun Woods
WR
Oklahoma State Perhaps the best way to describe Woods is to compare him to Marvin Harrison. Like Harrison, he doesn't look like a superstar standing still or when you look at his measurables. But if you're focusing on his measurables, you'll probably be still wondering about them after he's just ripped your secondary apart.

26 Carolina Panthers Marlin Jackson
CB
Michigan Extremely confident in his game. Above average strength for a CB and uses it to jam at the LOS. Has the size and speed of a top NFL CB. Athletic, playmaker who can change the complexion of a game. Technically sound, Sticks to receivers out of their routes.

27 St. Louis Rams Vernon Carey
OT
Miami (FL) He is a huge man that has exceptional lower body strength, balance, & drive. Very experienced & “NFL” ready OT. Quick and agile for a man his size, he has good technique and is a “mauler” when blocking the run or pass.

28 Tennessee Titans Lee Evans
WR
Wisconson Might be the toughest receiver in the draft, very strong for his size and fights for every ball that comes his way. Excellent leap compensates for lack of inches, loves going over the middle, uncanny knack of getting open. Explosive acceleration.

29 Indianapolis Colts Randy Starks
DT
Maryland Starks is a classic Dungy Pick! Aggressive, physical strength, instinctive, athletic, plays with emotion, swift first step, solid presence up the middle. Starks will be the #1 DT in the draft after the combines. He's a beast, strong as a bull who plays with emotion and attitude.

30 Kansas City Chiefs Darnell Dockett
DT
Florida State Explosive off the line, good motor, plays low for leverage, great closing speed.

31 Philadelphia Eagles Keary Colbert
WR
USC Quite polished, not many weaknesses to his game. Extremely safe hands, and always seems to know where the first down marker is. Shows up every week, and is a ferociously physical receiver with a FB mentality. Excellent blocker.

32 New England Patriots Chris Gamble
CB
Ohio St. Great height and athleticism, Fluid and has an eye for the ball. Big Play maker. Inexperienced, has only played 1 full season at CB. A little light in Weight and not a big tackler. will need time to develop OSU WR that switched to CB to fill a team need and has excelled. needs to add some bulk and refine his technique. has the tools and natural ability to be an elit Corner.

1. San Diego Chargers: Eli Manning, QB, Ole Miss

You can certainly make a case that the Chargers have more pressing needs than a quarterback but the golden rule of the NFL Draft is that unless you already have one you don't pass on a potential franchise signal caller. Drew Brees failed to step up in his third season and I think the Chargers actions spoke volumes about how they feel about his future when they continued to start the 41-year-old Doug Flutie despite already being eliminated from playoff contention. Eli is actually more physically gifted than his brother Peyton, with a stronger arm and better athleticism, not to mention being a true field general. I expect the Chargers to get a lot of interest from teams such as Arizona and Pittsburgh who would love to move up for the chance to add a quarterback prospect of Manning's caliber.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Oakland Raiders: Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Pittsburgh

The Raiders could go a number of ways here but I think it will boil down to a quarterback or wide receiver. One school of thought would say that the Raiders need to take this opportunity to nab a franchise signal caller to develop behind Rich Gannon and I can't really argue with that, but the bottom line is Al Davis wants to win immediately if not sooner and an impact wideout like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams will help them do just that while a quarterback is more of a long-term option. Fitzgerald, doesn't have that extra gear speed-wise but more than makes up for it with his athleticism, size, technique, hands, body control and intangibles. Simply put, Fitzgerald is an elite prospect and one of the best wideout prospects to come down the pipe in years. I am including Fitzgerald in this mock draft even though he is only a true sophomore because he attended a prep school after his senior year of high school, thus making it three years since his high school class graduated. Word is Fitzgerald will submit his name for the 2004 Draft and would likely be allowed in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Arizona Cardinals: Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Miami (OH)

Thanks to their thrilling last second win over the Vikings in week seventeen the Cardinals dropped from the #1 overall pick to #3, possibly costing themselves a chance at the franchise quarterback they so desperately need. In this scenario Arizona is fortunate enough to land Roethlisberger, who many rate as on par or even higher than Eli Manning. This guy was one of the most underrated players in college football this past season and has everything you look for in a star quarterback, including a strong arm, ideal size, pinpoint accuracy and sneaky athleticism. Jeff Blake proved he isn't the answer and while Josh McCown played admirably down the stretch his long-term potential is questionable at best. Needless to say, if the Cardinals are lucky enough to have a shot at Manning or Roethlisberger they had better jump all over it. If the quarterbacks are off the board they may look to guys like Tommie Harris and Will Smith who would strengthen their porous defensive line.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. New York Giants: Shawn Andrews, OT, Arkansas

The Giants have lost a lot of key players along the offensive line over the past few years who they have failed to replace, which caught up with them in a big way in 2003 when their lack of quality and depth was seriously exposed on a weekly basis. While Robert Gallery is generally considered the Draft's top tackle New York already has a left tackle in Luke Petitgout so I think Shawn Andrews would be the best option. A massive road grader at right tackle, Andrews absolutely dominates his opponent in the running game and while there are concerns about his pass blocking and weight this guy has the potential to be an elite right tackle or even move inside to guard, a la Leonard Davis. It really isn't their Draft philosophy to take offensive lineman this high but I don't see how the Giants can afford to pass on a talent like Andrews that addresses such a glaring need.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Washington Redskins: Kellen Winslow Jr, TE, Miami (FL)

The Redskins will be undergoing an offensive overhaul this off-season now that Steve Spurrier has left town. Spurrier didn't really utilize the tight end in his "Fun & Gun" which partially explains the lack of an impact player at the position on the roster. Winslow has the speed, athleticism and hands of a wide receiver but in a tight end's body. Simply put, this guy just may be the best tight end prospect the NFL Draft has ever seen and is truly a special prospect. Winslow has raised some red flags with his attitude and actions this past season but the bottom line is that he is a rare talent and should be off the board in the top 5-10 picks overall. The Redskins will also need a premier running back with Joe Gibbs in town but this may be a little too high but they could also look to address their needs along the defensive line with guys such as Will Smith, Kenechi Udeze or Tommie Harris.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Detroit Lions: Sean Taylor, S, Miami (FL)

The Lions have some key building blocks on defense but one area where they need to upgrade is at safety where only Terrence Holt has any long term potential. Taylor is a physical freak who is built like a Greek god, runs like a gazelle and is a playmaker in every sense of the word. In 2002 I thought Roy Williams was the best safety prospect I had ever seen but Taylor is even better, which is amazing when you consider what Williams has accomplished in only his second season with the Dallas Cowboys. I have no doubts that Taylor will be one of the elite players at his position very early on in his NFL career. Detroit could also look at a wideout like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams here if Bill Schroeder is released, as has been rumored.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. Atlanta Falcons: Tommie Harris, DT, Oklahoma

The Falcons will likely be switching back to a more traditional 4-3 defense which will necessitate the addition of an impact defensive tackle where Ellis Johnson is nearing retirement and Ed Jasper is average at best. Tommie Harris has been an impact player for the Sooners since his true freshman season and while his statistics may not jump out at you rest assured that Harris is an elite NFL prospect. Atlanta may also opt to bring aboard another weapon for Michael Vick and someone to compliment Peerless Price if a guy like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams is still on the board but remember, their new coach Jim Mora, Jr. is a defensive guy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. Cleveland Browns: Robert Gallery, OT, Iowa

There is little doubt that one of the Browns top off-season priorities will be to upgrade their offensive line and what better way to do that than by selection the consensus top left tackle in the Draft. I'm not ready to say he is in the Tony Boselli/Jon Ogden/Orlando Pace category just yet but he is just a notch below, which isn't bad. This choice allows the Browns to shuffle their offensive line and move Ross Verba and Ryan Tucker to positions they would be better suited for. Another option for Cleveland could be Kellen Winslow, who would give them the impact tight end they lack and who Butch Davis should be familiar with from his days down in Coral Gables. Word is Cleveland is already targeting Gallery and they would be very fortunate to land him with this pick.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Roy Williams, WR, Texas

The Jaguars have a couple of solid starting receivers in Jimmy Smith and Kevin Johnson but Smith isn't getting any younger and Johnson is more of a #2 option. Williams could have been a high first round pick in 2003 but he returned to Texas for his senior season and is right back in the early first round mix again in 2004. Had he come out last year his grade would have been right on par with those of Charles Rogers and Andre Johnson, the #2 and #3 overall picks respectively. Williams has a freakish combination of size, speed and athleticism and while he didn't necessarily put up eye-popping numbers for the Longhorns like Larry Fitzgerald did for Pitt you can attribute that to his teams' conservative offensive approach. Williams has everything you look for in an elite NFL wideout and will be an impact player very early on in his pro career.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. Houston Texans: Kenechi Udeze, DE, U.S.C.

The Texans boasted one of the worst run defenses in the NFL this year and even if Gary Walker isn't cut in a salary cap move and Seth Payne is able to return to his pre-injury form there is still a need for an infusion of young talent. Even though he is raw and still developing Udeze is quite the prospect and as a former defensive tackle he has the size to handle end in a 3-4 scheme while also providing value as an explosive pass rusher as well. Udeze is one of the hottest names in the Draft right now and his stock is soaring on the heels of a standout performance in the Rose Bowl (3 sacks). If, however, safety Sean Taylor were to somehow fall this far I think Houston would jump all over him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11. Pittsburgh Steelers: Steven Jackson, RB, Oregon St.

Word is some in the Steelers organization have become enamored with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and with good reason. Unfortunately for them the only way they will have a prayer at landing him is to trade up and to go that high (top 3-5 overall) would not be a cheap proposition. There are also rumors that Pittsburgh could be interested in acquiring Drew Henson's rights from the Texans so that may be an option as well. For years the Steelers offense has revolved around a strong running game but with Jerome Bettis nearing the end of his career and Amos Zereoue failing to distinguish himself they just don't have the horses to run that race these days. When all is said and done I think Jackson will be the first running back off the board because he has the best combination of size and speed. This choice will give Pittsburgh the running game they need and take a lot of pressure off of Tommy Maddox.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. New York Jets: Will Smith, DE, Ohio St.

With John Abraham moving to strong-side linebacker a hole has opened up at defensive end. Shaun Ellis really emerged in 2003 but on the other side they plan on starting Bryan Thomas as of now, a former first round pick who has been a bust up to this point. Will Smith is the consensus top defensive end in this Draft and if he were to fall this far I think the Jets would have to pull the trigger. Smith could have been a mid to late first rounder last year but he returned to Ohio St. for his senior season and now looks to be one of the elite defensive players available in 2004. Quick and athletic, Smith excels at putting pressure on the quarterback.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<B>
13. Buffalo Bills: Ben Troupe, TE, Florida

To say the Buffalo Bills offense was disappointing in 2003 would be the understatement of the year. After lighting up scoreboards across the league in 2002, Drew Bledsoe and company looked like a shell of their former selves this year. While it wouldn't cure all their ills, adding an athletic tight end like Troupe would sure be a step in the right direction and would help stretch the field and open things up for Eric Moulds, Josh Reed and Bobby Shaw. Troupe kind of gets lost in the mix because this Draft also includes a potential star in Kellen Winslow but this guy isn't a bad prospect in his own right. Very explosive with great size and soft hands, Troupe would be an excellent addition for the Bills.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
</B>

14. Chicago Bears: Vince Wilfork, DT, Miami (FL)

To put the Bears pass rush (or lack thereof) in perspective, Michael Strahan had more sacks in 2003 than the entire Chicago defense. Wilfork is a massive tackle, too big if you ask some, and while he can plug the middle he also has the quickness to be a force as a pass rusher as well. Brian Urlacher wasn't himself this past season and part of that can be attributed to not having a big body like Ted Washington up front occupying blockers and allowing him to roam around and make plays. There has been some talk of Wilfork's stock dropping, possibly all the way to the end of round one, but while I don't see him being a top five overall pick as once expected I also don't see him falling much further than this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Vernon Carey, OT-OG, Miami (FL)

The Bucs offensive line, namely Kenyatta Walker and Cosey Coleman, have tested Jon Gruden's patience on more than one occasion the past couple of seasons so I think the opportunity to draft a versatile offensive lineman like Carey, who could see action at either tackle or guard, would be music to the coach's ears. Some may argue that this is a reach because he didn't have as strong of a senior campaign at guard he did as a junior at tackle but you need only go back and look at film of him in 2002 to see a player who is very worthy of being a first round pick. I think Tampa would also have to consider a wide receiver like Reggie Williams or Michael Clayton here but word is Gruden is happy with Charles Lee starting alongside Keenan McCardell.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16. San Francisco 49'ers: Reggie Williams, WR, Washington

Terrell Owens' return next season is very doubtful at best and Tai Streets may be on his way out of town as well so there will be a major hole at wide receiver in the Bay Area. You have to figure the Niners would love to get their hands on Williams, who has everything you look for in a top wideout including great size and athleticism. In fact, the only question with Williams is his speed and if he can run well in workouts he could very easily end up being a top ten overall pick. As it stands, with questions about his speed unanswered, Williams represents a solid value in the middle of round one and would be a perfect fit for the 49'ers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

17. Cincinnati Bengals: Chris Gamble, CB, Ohio St.

The Bengals essentially conceded their interest in upgrading at cornerback when they flirted with the notion of taking Kansas State's Terence Newman with the first overall pick last year before eventually settling on Carson Palmer. While Gamble is by no means a finished product he has as much potential as any cornerback out there and I feel he could eventually end up being one of the best players to come out of this Draft. With great size, speed and amazing athleticism the only thing this guy is lacking is experience at the position because he played a lot of wideout early on with the Buckeyes. In fact, this year was the first season he played cornerback the majority of the time and while he did give up some big plays he also showed flashes of the potential that will earn him a spot in the middle of round one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18. New Orleans Saints: Dunta Robinson, CB, South Carolina

When the Saints traded up with Arizona to acquire the #6 overall pick in last years Draft most thought their goal was to land Washington St. cornerback Marcus Trufant. They are pleased with Johnathan Sullivan, but I don't think they would mind having a player like Trufant in their secondary either. Word is they have conceded the fact that an influx of young talent at corner should be a priority so choosing a player like Robinson would make complete sense at this point in round one. This guy came through with a great senior season and while he isn't a finished product just yet he has the size, speed and athletic ability to be a very good pro defensive back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

19. Minnesota Vikings: DeAngelo Hall, CB, Virginia Tech

The Vikings desperately need to upgrade their defense and a top cornerback and impact pass rusher top their list of priorities. Hall doesn't have ideal size but he may be the fastest, most athletic player in the entire Draft, which would make him an ideal compliment to the bigger, more physical Brian Williams. This would also allow Minnesota to keep Denard Walker and Ken Irvin in backup roles, which they are best suited for. Hall is also a dynamic return man, an added plus since the Vikings could stand to upgrade there as well. A pass rusher like Kenechi Udeze or Will Smith would also be very tempting if they were still available, as would a speedy linebacker like Jonathan Vilma.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20. Miami Dolphins: Michael Clayton, WR, L.S.U.

Chris Chambers emerged as one of the elite young wide receivers in the league in 2003 but no one else really stepped up on the other side to compliment him. With great size and athleticism, Clayton is a big reason Louisiana St. was co-National Champions this year and looks to be a solid first round pick if he comes out as long as he can post a respectable forty time in workouts. If his times are sub par, however, Clayton could fall to the end of round one. The Dolphins could also consider a young signal caller such as J.P. Losman to develop as a backup plan in case Jay Fiedler isn't able to take the team to the next level.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

21. New England Patriots (f/BAL): Kevin Jones, RB, Virginia Tech

The Patriots really need a stud running back who they can give the ball to twenty times a game so they should be very happy to find a talent like Jones still on the board. Antowain Smith hasn't been the same since he got a new contract after the Pats Super Bowl run and seems to be in Bill Belichick's doghouse more often than not while Kevin Faulk is best suited for a role as a third-down back. Jones has just about everything you look for in a franchise back and he will battle Steven Jackson and Cadillac Williams to be the first running back off the board on Draft Day. New England could also opt to address another need with this pick and hope a top back falls to them late in the round but that may be too big of a risk with a talent like Jones available here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

22. Dallas Cowboys: Dwan Edwards, DT, Oregon St.

With Cadillac Williams going back to school the running back crop took a hit the Cowboys may have to look to the veteran market for a runner with names like Corey Dillon, Garrison Hearst and Curtis Martin often mentioned. If Dallas doesn't go running back in round one they will likely go defensive line since Parcell's has made no secret of his desire to add some beef in that area. Word is the Tuna loves Vince Wilfork but with him off the board he opts for Edwards, who is tough, has good closing speed and excels at collapsing the pocket. Edwards is a name a lot of people may not be aware of yet but, rest assured, they will be come April.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23. Seattle Seahawks: Randy Starks, DT, Maryland

The Seahawks number one priority this off-season is to add a big-time pass rusher and with John Randle and Chad Eaton aging this pick would make a lot of sense. A raw, developing talent, Starks is extremely quick, powerful and athletic and has garnered some positive comparisons to Dewayne Robertson who last year saw his stock rise to the point where he was the #4 overall pick. I would be shocked if the Seahawks go anywhere other than defensive line in round one since that is their lone glaring weakness.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

24. Denver Broncos: Will Poole, CB, U.S.C.

The Broncos like Lenny Walls and Kelly Herndon and seem to feel they are starting caliber cornerbacks (I disagree), but even if that is the case they only have Jimmy Spencer, a player/coach, and a former first round bust in Willie Middlebrooks behind them. Needless to say they can't go wrong with taking a corner in round one and Poole has solidified himself as a legitimate first round prospect thanks to a strong senior campaign. Another option here could be at defensive tackle where Daryl Gardner's future with the team is very much in doubt and there is little quality or depth. Dwan Edwards and Marcus Tubbs are a couple of guys who project to come off the board in this general area who would be interesting options.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

25. Green Bay Packers: J.P. Losman, QB, Tulane

Brett Favre is not getting any younger and Green Bay has to begin preparing for life after their star quarterback retires. This Packers acknowledged the fact that they have an eye toward the future when they showed a lot of interest in Rex Grossman last year so it wouldn't be a shock to see them consider a quarterback in round one again in 2004. Losman has a lot of Favre-like qualities in that he has a strong arm, is very athletic and has a very confident demeanor on the field. Word is Phillip Rivers and Matt Schaub are creeping up in the quarterback rankings as well and while I don't think they have caught Losman or moved into round one just yet it is possible they could by Draft Day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

26. Carolina Panthers: D.J. Williams, OLB, Miami (FL)

Mark Field's future with the team is in question as he battles Hodgkins Disease and while Will Witherspoon is solid on one side there is certainly room for an upgrade. Coming out of high school Williams considered one of the top prospects in the country and after jumping back and forth between fullback and linebacker early in his career he finally found a home on the defensive side of the ball. He is still developing and learning the nuances of the position but there is no denying that this guy has the physical tools to be an elite linebacker at the pro level. The Panthers may also opt to add a cornerback here with guys like Will Poole and Dunta Robinson being potential targets.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

27. St. Louis Rams: Jake Grove, C, Virginia Tech

I am sure the Rams would love to upgrade at cornerback here with Jerametrius Butler looking to be best suited for a nickel role but with all the top corners off the board they could opt to address their offensive line. St. Louis' offensive line has underachieved this year and while Dave Wohlabaugh is a serviceable center he is getting up there in years and there is certainly room for a prospect like Grove, who is one of the better center prospects to come along in a while. What really sets Grove apart is his demeanor on the field where he isn't satisfied with just to winning the battle, he wants to dominate his opponent.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

28. Tennessee Titans: Marcus Tubbs, DT, Texas

The Titans don't have a lot of glaring needs but they miss the defensive tackle rotation they lost when John Thornton left as a free agent and with Robaire Smith being a free agent this year that may be a position where they would like to bring in another body. Tubbs has been a force for the Longhorns since very early on in his career and he has come through with the type of senior campaign that looks to have secured him a spot in round one. Combining great size with top athletic ability and a strong base, Tubbs has all the physical tools you look for and would be a great addition in Tennessee and would provide some much needed insurance in case Smith signs elsewhere or, at the very least, replenish their depth at the position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

29. Indianapolis Colts: Derrick Strait, CB, Oklahoma

I don't care what anybody says, if this guy isn't a first round pick it will be a travesty. Granted he may not be as big or fast as you would prefer but Strait is a football player, plain and simple. I compare him very favorably to Antoine Winfield, who was a first round pick for the Bills back in 1998. An added bonus with Strait is that he, like Winfield, is a major force in run support as well. Strait should be a good fit in Indy's Cover 2 defensive scheme because Dungy has been known to take defensive backs with less than ideal triangular numbers and make players out of them, i.e. Mike Doss most recently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

30. Kansas City Chiefs: Devard Darling, WR, Washington St.

The Chiefs had one of the worst run defenses in the NFL in 2003 which is something that must be addressed this off-season but with both Dwan Edwards and Marcus Tubbs off the board they may have to look elsewhere. After initially stating his intentions to return for his senior season Darling changed his mind and entered the Draft. While he could have been a much higher pick in 2005, I think he could still sneak into late round one, with Kansas City an ideal situation. The Chiefs wideouts are solid, but they lack that true, game-breaking #1 receiver which Darling has the potential to be. He is still raw, but you can't questions Darling's size and athleticism and he is a guy who just knows how to get in the endzone. He won't be forced into a starting role immediately in Kansas City and with the right coaching he could end up being a major steal here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

31. Philadelphia Eagles: Jonathan Vilma, ILB, Miami (FL)

Vilma isn't as big as you would prefer but he is fast, athletic, and super instinctive, attributes which more than make up for his lack of the preferred physical characteristics. In fact, he may be one of the better pure football players in this Draft. The Eagles starting linebackers are solid but you can make an argument that none are great and their depth is severely lacking. Vilma is just the type of speedy linebacker Philly favors for its scheme and he would be a valuable backup both inside and outside early on before eventually wrestling away a starting spot. The Eagles could also look to upgrade at wide receiver where they lack that true #1 option.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

32. New England Patriots: Karlos Dansby, OLB, Auburn

I think this would be an ideal choice for the Patriots, not to mention an absolute steal at the end of round one. Dansby is a tall, rangy outside linebacker who moved over from safety where he played early on in his college career. Equally adept at rushing the passer and dropping into coverage, Dansby would be a perfect fit in New England's 3-4 defense at outside linebacker. Another option for the Pats here could be to address the offensive line where they could really stand to add some depth. Either way look for Scott Pioli to find a player who fits their system and if he can draft half as well in 2004 as he did last year Patriots fans should be extremely happy.<B/>

*First-round trade: The Chargers trade the No.1 overall pick to the Arizona Cardinals for their first- (no. 3 overall), second-, and third-round picks.

1. San Diego Chargers - Eli Manning, QB Mississippi
Will the Chargers give Brees another chance or will they go for the franchise QB?

2. Oakland Raiders - Roy Williams, WR Texas
Williams has played a little soft this year, and it is debatable whether he, Reggie Williams, or Michael Clayton is the best receiver in this year's draft.

3. Arizona Cardinals - Ben Roethlisberger, QB Miami (Ohio)
Jeff Blake is not a long-term solution if the Cardinals hope to ever turn things around, and some consider Roethlisberger to be the best quarterback in college. He's a pocket passer with a strong arm and the good size NFL teams like.

4. Atlanta Falcons - Robert Gallery, OT Iowa
The Falcons need to get Michael Vick an offensive tackle and a wide receiver, and Gallery is the more valuable of the two at this point.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars - Sean Taylor, S Miami
This guy covers like cornerback and hits like a linebacker. Should develop into an All-Pro safety.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers - Steven Jackson, RB Oregon State
The Steelers need serious help in their secondary, but they also need to start thinking about their future at running back. Jackson is the best all-around back this year.

7. Detroit Lions - Kevin Jones, RB Virginia Tech
Detroit needs help in a lot of areas, and a homerun hitter at running back would take a lot of pressure off quarterback Joey Harrington. He hasn't been used much in the passing game, but I think he can adjust to the west coast offense.

8. Cleveland Browns - Kellen Winslow Jr., TE Miami
Offensive line is more of a need, but a talent like Winslow would be tough to pass on at this point.

9. Washington Redskins - Tommie Harris, DT Oklahoma
The Redskins need a defensive tackle and a defensive end. Harris could play either for them.

10. Chicago Bears - Shawn Andrews, OT Arkansas
The Bears offensive line has come around the second half of the season, but lack of depth has hurt them the last two seasons. A healthy Marc Columbo and Andrews would give them a very solid pair of young tackles.

11. New York Giants - D.J. Williams, OLB Miami (Fla)
The Giants need a lot of help on the offensive line, but with the top-two tackles off the board, they'll look elsewhere. Williams looks to me like he is going to be an impact player in the NFL.

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Reggie Williams, WR Washington
The Bucs could use an infusion of youth at wide receiver, although they could elect to go with a defensive tackle if they allow Warren Sapp to walk at the end of the season.

13. San Francisco 49ers - Vince Wilfork, DT Miami (Fla)
Wilfork has been playing a little soft and looks to be a little out of shape, otherwise, he would probably be a top-five pick. I think he should go back to school for another year to re-establish himself and get into better playing shape, but reports indicate he is leaning toward coming out this year.

14. New York Jets - DeAngleo Hall, CB Virginia Tech
Hall has tremendous speed, a 38-inch vertical jump, and all the tools to be a shut-down corner in the NFL.

15. Houston Texans - Randy Starks, DT Maryland
I think the Texans would like to snag a big nose tackle, but I doubt Wilfork will drop this far. If they don't package a deal to move up, I'd look for them to take the next best tackle.

16. Buffalo Bills - Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma State
Even if Josh Reed proves he can fill the No. 2 role, the Bills still need to add another receiver

17. Cincinnati Bengals - Vince Wilfork, DT Miami (Fla)
Thornton and Williams are solid in the middle, but Wilfork is too good of a defensive talent for Marvin Lewis to pass on. He has been playing a little soft and looks to be a little out of shape, otherwise, he would probably be a top-five pick

18. New Orleans Saints - Will Poole, CB USC
The Saints are giving up more than 300 yards per game through the air, so help in the defensive backfield only makes sense. Poole didn't get into the starting lineup until earlier this season, but he developed into one of the top cover corners in the country.

19. Minnesota Vikings - D.J. Williams, OLB Miami (Fla)
The Vikings need more speed at linebacker and Williams has tremendous potential as an impact linebacker. He has the strength to take on offensive linemen and the speed to range from sideline to sideline, chasing down running backs. He also has the ability to be as effective in pass coverage as he is rushing the quarterback.

20. Miami Dolphins - Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma State
Woods is not the most athletic receiver in the draft, but he is probably the most polished. And as we saw in 2003 with Anquan Boldin, a wide receiver does not have to have a blazing 40 time to make an impact in the NFL. I think he would make a great complement to Chris Chambers. A quarterback like Tulane's J.P. Losman is a good possibility here as well.

21. New England Patriots (from Baltimore) - Karlos Dansby OLB, Auburn
The Patriots are in the enviable position of not having many holes to fill, so they have the luxury of taking the best player available, even if he doesn't fill an immediate need. Dansby looks to me like another guy that is going to be an impact linebacker in the NFL. He has great agility and speed, and is fantastic in pass coverage.

22. Dallas Cowboys - Dwan Edwards, DT Oregon State
The Cowboys have a big need at running back, but I'm not sure they'd get much more for their pick here than they would taking one of the backs that will be around in the second round. Bill Parcells would like to add some beef to the defensive line, and Edwards is a nice fit.

23. Seattle Seahawks - Randy Starks, DT Maryland
The Seahawks need an upgrade at defensive tackle, and Starks could be a great value here. He has tremendous lower-body strength and should be a force against the run.

24. Denver Broncos - Ben Troupe, TE Florida
Troupe is a tight end in the mold of a Shannon Sharpe, and since Sharpe is at/near the end of his career, he's a perfect fit for the Broncos.

25. Green Bay Packers - Marcus Tubbs, DT Texas
The Packers did a nice job of solidifying their defensive line with the addition of DT Grady Jackson during the 2003 season, but I think the position will still be high on the team's list of priorities in April. Tubbs is a borderline first rounder, but he has tons of potential and tremendous athletic ability for his size.

26. Carolina Panthers - Lee Evans, WR Wisconsin
Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad have played well for the Panthers in the playoffs, but they are inconsistent. Evans has the ability to develop into the consistent playmaker the Panthers lack.

27. St. Louis Rams - Dunta Robinson, CB South Carolina
Jerametrius Butler is a restricted free agent, and he has been unreliable at times. Robinson, who has decent size, very good speed, and the coverage skills to be a shut-down corner in the NFL, would be a huge improvement.

28. Tennessee Titans - Nat Dorsey, OT Georgia Tech
Hopkins and Miller are 33 and 30 respectively, so it's time the Titans bring in some young talent. Dorsey is a huge left tackle and an excellent blocker in both the run and pass offense.

29. Indianapolis Colts - Derrick Strait, CB Oklahoma
Defensive tackle is a bigger need, but Strait is probably a better value (and fills a need) than any of the DTs still on the board.

30. Kansas City Chiefs - Ricardo Colclough, CB Tusculum
It's tough to get noticed at Tusculum, but Colclough has been absolutely dominating. This guy should really climb the draft boards during post-season workouts.

31. Philadelphia Eagles - Jonathan Vilma, OLB Miami (Fla)
The Eagles should try to find McNabb a bona fide receiver, but I think they will wait until the second or third round and take what they can get. Vilma would help to once again solidify the Eagles linebacking corps. He is a very intelligent, quick thinking, instinctive linebacker who is ranked as a top-15 pick on many draft boards.

32. New England Patriots - Chris Perry, RB Michigan
The Patriots need to upgrade at running back, and Perry appears to be working himself into a possible late first-round selection. The Patriots could also pull a bit of a surprise here and take the power-running style of Florida State's Greg Jones.

and the Chargers do what with Drew Brees and Mullet Man

hemi13
01-18-2004, 08:32 AM
Will Smith is a Upstate New Yorker, from Proctor High School in Utica. (played at Ohio State) He's known to be a great pass rusher, but had a weekness, and a big one. He sucks against the run. The down side of this kid is not only can't he stuff the run, but there were games where you never even heard his name mentioned. Looks like if you play this kid right, you can shut him down easy and this is the pros, not college.

1. San Diego Chargers Eli Manning Mississippi QB
The Chargers have all but given up on Drew Brees and will get a sure thing with Eli Manning or they will end up with another bust like Ryan Leaf.
Team Needs: Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Linebacker

2. Oakland Raiders Ben Roethlisberger Miami (OH) QB
The ailing Raiders are in desperate need of some good young talent and what better way to start than with a young strong armed quarterback.
Team Needs: Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Defensive Back

3. Arizona Cardinals Robert Gallery Iowa OT
Unless the Cardinals trade their pick in hopes of getting a Quarterback look for them to beef up the offensive line and grab a Quarterback in the 2nd round.
Team Needs: Everything

4. New York Giants Sean Taylor Miami S
Taylor is one of the best and most entertaining defensive players in the draft. Look for the Giants to have an instant upgrade in their defensive backfield with Taylor.
Team Needs: Quarterback, Defensive Back, Linebacker

5. Washington Redskins Kellen Winslow Jr. Miami TE
Dan Snyder won't let a sure Pro Bowler slip past him. The Skins have been looking for a Tight End for years and will get their man in "The Chosen One"

Team Needs: Tight End, Defensive Line, Offensive Line

6. Detroit Lions Kevin Jones Virginia Tech RB
Lions get worse and worse, hopefully Kevin Jones may shed some light to this struggling team. Also don't be surprised if the Lions traded down for more picks, they could still trade down and select...............running back ..........Michael "Burner" Turner.
Team Needs: Completely new team

7. Atlanta Falcons Roy Williams Texas WR
Roy Williams would be a perfect fit for the Falcons at the 7th pick. With Williams lined up along side Peerless Price and Vick back in the pocket the Falcons could be a large force next year.
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Offensive Line, Defensive Back

8. Cleveland Browns Shawn Andrews Arkansas OT
Yet once again the Browns will "WOW" their fans be taking an Offensive Lineman in the first round. Last year it was a center this year its a Tackle. GO BROWNS!
Team Needs: Offensive Line, Tight End, Linebacker

9. Jacksonville Jaguars Reggie Williams Washington WR
Although Roy Williams is thought of as the best receiver in the draft, Reggie Williams is not far behind. Williams would step right in at the no. 2 receiver slot in Jacksonville.
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Offensive Line, Defensive Back

10. Houston Texans Keneche Udeze USC DE
Since declaring for the draft Udeze has watched his stock rise ever so rapidly. He would be a great large, sweaty body to put on the weak defensive line of the Texans. He could add a little pizzazz to the slow boring Houston "D".
Team Needs: Defensive Back, Defensive Line, Linebacker

11. Pittsburgh Steelers Steven Jackson Oregon St. RB
Jackson can step in right away and start right away, and hopefully send the Bus out to pasture.
Team Needs: Running Back, Offensive Line, Defensive Line

12. New York Jets Michael Clayton LSU WR
The Jets will jump all over Michael Clayton to line up alongside Santana Moss. With Clayton in the Jets offensive mix Pennington could have a huge year.
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Tight End, Offensive Line

<B>
13. Buffalo Bills Ben Troupe Florida TE
The Bills desperately need a tight end. They will be keeping their fingers crossed for Winslow but won't think twice about grabbing Troupe.
Team Needs: Tight End, Quarterback, Wide Receiver
</B>

14. Chicago Bears Vince Wilfork Miami DT
With the drafting of Michael Haynes last year the Bears will add Wilfork to the mix and have one of the youngest defensive lines in the league.
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Offensive Line

15. Tampa Bay Bucs Tommie Harris Oklahoma St. DT
Tommie Harris will add another presense to go along with Simeon Rice. With two pass rushing D-Lineman they won't have to worry resigning Warren Sapps old ass.
Team Needs: Offensive Line, Wide Receiver, Running Back

16. San Francisco 49ers DeAngelo Hall Virginia Tech CB
The 49ers will look at taking a defensive player, they will be hoping for Hall or Strait, but don't be surprised if they took an offensive lineman if the right one fell to them.
Team Needs: Defensive Back, Linebacker, Offensive Line

17. Cincinnati Bengals Chris Gamble Ohio St. CB
After the Bengals downfall at the end of the season Marvin Lewis will look for the most athletic defensive player available and if Chris Gamble is still around he will be his man.
Team Needs: Defensive Back, Linebacker, Defensive Line

18. New Orleans Saints Jonathon Vilma Miami LB
Vilma is an underrated Linebacker who could add a lot of speed to New Orleans slow ailing defense.
Team Needs: Offensive Line, Linebacker, Defensive Back

19. Minnesota Vikings Will Smith Ohio St. DE
The Vikings will be looking to continue upgrading the defensive line. By adding Smith it will help free up Hovan and soon to be second year man Kevin Williams.
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Defensive Back, Wide Receiver

20. Miami Dolphins D.J. Williams Miami LB
Although the Dolphins may look to take a quarterback, it will be hard to pass up the hometown standout Linebacker.
Team Needs: Linebacker, Quarterback, Wide Receiver<B/>

1. Eli Manning, QB Ole Miss
The biggest question in San Diego is whether or not the team thinks Drew Brees is the future. Personally, because of Marty's decisions during the latter part of the season, I don't believe they think he is. Look at it this way, the Chargers already missed out on a Manning, they won't let it happen again. However, if they do think that Brees is the future, a trade down is a real possibility.

2. *Larry Fitzgerald, WR Pittsburgh
I get conflicting reports on Fitz just about everyday, and now it seems he will challenge the rule and win, entering himself into the draft. The top talent if he does declare, the Raiders don't pass on him.

3. *Ben Roethlisberger, QB Miami (OH)
The Cardinals get one of the top two QB's, and Denny Green doesn't let him slip by.

4. Robert Gallery, OT Iowa
I originally had Shawn Andrews penciled in here for the G Men even though I felt Gallery is the best OT in the draft, but he is too good to pass up. Gallery is a complete prospect and is simply one of the top 5 tackles to come out in the last decade.

5. *Kevin Jones, RB Virginia Tech
With Coach Gibbs on board again in the nation's capital, look for the Skins to go back to a more balanced attack. Gibbs has already mentioned Jones as the guy he will target in the draft, but if they end up signing someone like Corey Dillon they could go another way, such as Tommie Harris or Sean Taylor.

6. *Sean Taylor, S Miami
The Lions have some serious holes to fill (aging defensive line, running back, very weak secondary) and Taylor is in a class by himself at safety. They need some serious help here, and Taylor can come in and contribute from day one. Jones is the back they are said to be targeting, but he is now off the board. In my opinion, Taylor will be a better safety in his first 2 years than Roy Williams, mark it down.

7. *Shawn Andrews, OT Arkansas
The Browns really like Gallery, but he's gone so they look to Andrews who is sure to add a bookend tackle to that line for years. A wildcard pick, however, is Kellen Winslow.

8. *Tommie Harris, DT Oklahoma
The Falcons need defensive help bad, and Harris falls to them here. His stock has been slipping some, but the Falcons take him in an effort to shore up their soft run defense. Could also go with a corner here, like DeAngelo Hall.

9. Roy Williams, WR Texas
This pick hasn't changed in months, and for good reason. The Jaguars have a solid pair of starters in Jimmy Smith and Kevin Johnson, but Smith isn't getting younger by any means. The Jags could use a playmaker for Leftwich, someone that can stretch the field and go over the middle, and Williams' speed and size allow him to do just that.

10. *Vince Wilfork, DT Miami
The Texans really like Wilfork since he has the perfect size to play NT in the 3-4, and he falls to them. This pick changes if Fitzgerald doesn't come out, because Wilfork will likely be gone to either the Cardinals or Falcons.

11. *Steven Jackson, RB Oregon St.
The Steelers need some players, to put it lightly. A young RB, a young QB, and an OT would be a good start, as well as some help in the defensive backfield. With the two top tackles and quarterbacks off the board, the Steelers go for the top running back in the draft. Word has it that only one, Bettis or Zereoue, will be back, so RB becomes a need. Bettis is getting up there in years and Zereoue hasn't proven he can handle the load that comes with being the Steelers featured back.

12. Reggie Williams, WR Washington
The Jets could go a few ways with this pick. Linebacker help is needed, as evident by having one of the worst run defenses in the league, but with this Williams on the board, they address their need for a receiver to play opposite Santana Moss. Pennington to Moss AND Reggie Williams, scary.
<B>
13. *Kellen Winslow II, TE Miami
The Bills need a playmaker, and they are already weak at TE. At this point, Winslow is the best talent left on the board. Could very well be a match made in heaven.</B>

14. *Randy Starks, DT Maryland

Age and injuries depleted the Bears defensive line this year, and it is more evident than ever that Brian Urlacher missed having Ted Washington in the middle. Starks is the best DT available.

15. *Michael Clayton, WR LSU
Could end up being one of the hidden gems of this year's draft class. Great size, speed, and hands have shot Clayton up draft boards in recent weeks, and the Bucs could use help at WR. Thomas Jones coming on strong in the final weeks of the season solidifies this pick, as RB was also a need until Jones' emergence.

16. *DeAngelo Hall, CB Virginia Tech
The Niners need some secondary help, and Hall is the number one corner on my list.

17. Chris Gamble, CB Ohio St.
The Bengals could look at a LB here like DJ Williams, but Gamble falls to them and his talent is too much to pass up.

18. Derrick Strait, CB Oklahoma
The Saints are set on offense, so they look to defense. Word out of New Orleans says that the Saints are tired out relying on old journeymen corners, so they land a keeper in Strait.

19. Will Smith, DE Ohio St.
Also set on offense, the Vikes need help at DE and corner. With the top corners off the board, the Vikings turn to Smith, who many see as the top DE in the draft.

20. DJ Williams, LB Miami
Since Williams is still available, the Dolphins jump all over him. Their defense is solid, yet aging. They could go with Rashaun Woods here, but Williams has excellent talent in a thin LB group.

21. (from BAL) Vernon Carey, OG Miami
With both Jackson and Jones off the board, the Pats go with a need pick and get the best OG in the draft. Carey can anchor the guard position for years, one of the few things the Patriots are lacking.

22. *Dan Cody, DE Oklahoma
The Cowboys are pretty much a lock to take either a RB or a DE in the first round, whichever presents better value. A RB here seems to be a bit of a reach, so the Cowboys sure up the one weak spot on their defense and add a complete DE in Cody.

23. *Antwan Odom, DE Alabama
Seattle has been looking for help in rushing the passer for a while now, with mixed results. Odom has tremendous upside, and his stock has risen a bit lately.

24. Dwan Edwards, DT Oregon St.
The Broncos could go CB with this pick, but they seem to be happy with their current group. The Broncos need a DT, and Edwards is clearly the best available.

25. JP Losman, QB Tulane
This seems to be the popular pick as of late, and rightfully so. Favre doesn't have much left in the tank, regardless of what anybody says. They need a young QB to groom behind Favre, and Losman seems to be cut from the same mold, a gun slinger with a cannon for an arm.

26. Nathan Vasher, CB Texas
Aeneas Williams' successful move to safety opens up a spot for a top corner, and Vasher is just that. May not have the ceiling of some other corners in the draft, but may prove to be the most consistant.

27. Chad Lavalais, DT LSU
The Titans have no glaring needs, but they missed the rotation they had when John Thornton left for Cincinnatti. He's as disciplined as they come, and is great depth that will take over within two years.

28. Jonathan Vilma, LB Miami
The Chiefs run defense was putrid down the stretch, to put it nicely. Vilma is always around the ball and will help immediately against the run and the pass.

29. Dunta Robinson, CB South Carolina
Corner is clearly the biggest need for the Panthers, and Robinson is the best available. A wild card here, that may surprise some people, is Ben Troupe, TE, from Florida.

30. Will Poole, CB USC
The Colts need a corner, and Poole fits in well in Dungy's cover 2 scheme. His draft stock has risen since the Rose Bowl, and is as talented as they come.

31. Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma St.
With Woods still on the board, the Eagles add a playmaker to their solid yet unspectacular wide receiving corps. Could be a steal this late, will make an excellent NFL wide out.

32. Karlos Dansby, LB Auburn
The Pats need a running back, but Chris Perry is a bit of a reach here. Not to mention that Dansby is an absolute steal at this point and will be a perfect 3-4 outside linebacker.

1 WR Roy Williams Texas
David Boston has been a nightmare for the WR-deprived Chargers, and Schottenheimer will do anything to run him out of town asap. Enter Roy "The Legend" Williams who finally gives San Diego another option other than LT. Williams combines, size, speed and sure hands to be the best WR available. The Chargers will look for help along the D and O line in the following rounds.
2 QB Eli Manning Mississippi
If nothing else, the unforgettable 2003 season puts Oakland in perfect draft position as they begin the rebuilding process, and no better place to start than at QB. Gannon's days are numbered. Eli Manning (Peyton's younger brother) will be a star in this league.
3 QB Ben Roethlisberger * Miami (OH)
Arizona could use a RB and some defensive help, but Jeff Blake is not the answer (and it doesn't even matter what the question is!). At 6-5 and carrying a cannon for a right arm, Roethlisberger should be able to ignite Arizona's offense. New HC Denny Green will look for plenty of defensive help in the following rounds.
4 OT Shawn Andrews * Arkansas
The G-Men MUST commit to the O line early rather than scooping up marginal talent in the later rounds as they've done the past few years. Andrews is the nation's best, biggest and probably most athletic bookend of the draft. The Junior has officially declared and has All-Pro potential for years to come in the Big Apple.
5 RB Kevin Jones * Virginia Tech
Spurrier is out. Gibbs will want to re-establish the run in D.C. and that is clear Washington's number one priority. After a dismal season, the Redskins are in prime position to get a game-breaker, and that's exactly what they'll have in Kevin Jones. He's the most complete back in this draft. An All-Conference performer in 2003, Jones rushed for almost 1,500 yards and 20 TDs.
6 RB Steven Jackson * Oregon State
Detroit needs defensive help (and plenty of it), but Harrington and the offense will never be successful until they find a solid RB who can move the chains and take some of the pressure off the rest of the offense. Jackson led the PAC-10 in rushing each of the past two seasons. He'll be the RB Detroit has been needing since Barry Sanders left town. Plenty of defense will be drafted in the following rounds.
7 S Sean Taylor * Miami
A healthy Vick, teamed with Duckett, Dunn, Price and Crumpler should give this offense plenty of weapons to win next year, but the defense, one of the worst in the league in 2003, must get better. Taylor, who projects as a Strong Safety, will do a lot to improve both the run defense and pass defense in Atlanta.
8 TE Kellen Winslow * Miami
Cleveland needs defensive help, but passing up on a talent like Winslow would be crazy considering the Brownies haven't had a playmaker from that position since the days of Ozzie Newsome. Winslow will be a superstar in the NFL.
9 WR Reggie Williams * Washington
Due to off-the-field problems and age, Jimmy Smith is no longer the reliable receiver he once was in Jacksonville. With no legitimate replacement (or #2 target for that matter), the decision should be an easy one. Reggie Williams will be an electrifying compliment to young QB Byron Leftwich and give the Jaguars one of the most potent pass-catch duos in the league.
10 DT Vince Wilfork * Miami
Houston has built a solid offense with Carr, last year's first rounder, WR Andre Johnson, and a crowded stable of solid rushers out of the backfield. It's time for Capers to turn his attention to the defense, and no better place to start than the front line, where Wilfork will be the perfect anchor for Houston's 3-4 defense.
11 CB DeAngelo Hall * Virginia Tech
Pittsburgh wouldn't mind drafting a RB with this selection, but since the top 2 (Jones and Jackson) will be gone by the 11th pick, Pittsburgh will be forced to turn their attention to the secondary, where they've had just as many problems the past couple of years. Hall is one of the best all-around athletes in this draft, and he has blazing speed. The All-Conference performer has been a standout CB and Return Specialist the past two years.
12 WR Rashaun Woods Oklahoma State
The Jets need youth almost everywhere. Curtis Conway has been a bust and likely won't be back. Santana Moss is a legit #2 target. Pennington and the Jets need that dominant, #1 target, and Woods fits the bill. Help in the secondary or for the O line will be a top priority in the following rounds.
<B>13 DT Tommie Harris * Oklahoma
The Bills need to apply pressure up front in order to take some of the pressure off the secondary. Veteran DT Sam Adams is a short-term solution. Harris is a solid lineman capable of playing inside or outside along Buffalo's D front.</B>
14 OT Robert Gallery Iowa
No QB and no RB will succeed without adequate protection. Gallery will give Chicago the big, athletic OT they've been needing and hopefully young QB Rex Grossman won't have to face as many collapsing pockets.
15 WR Michael Clayton * LSU
Tampa Bay has already bid farewell to Keyshawn Johnson. Keenan McCardell will be 34 when the 2004 season starts. Long story short, Gruden's offense needs a young receiver. While Charles Lee has developed very well, he'll never be the #1 threat in Tampa. Clayton led the SEC in receptions/game and total receiving yards as a Junior in 2003. He'll be a perfect fit in Tampa's new look offense.
16 CB Chris Gamble * Ohio State
No one in San Francisco is pleased with the play of 2002 draftee Mike Rumph. Every other CB on the roster is a free agent - Ahmad Plummer, Jason Webster, Rashad Holman and Jimmy Williams. As a replacement, Gamble may already be the best on the squad. He also played WR at Ohio State and T.O. and Tai Streets are both free agents for the 49ers, so with Gamble, San Francisco has a lot of options.
17 DE Will Smith Ohio State
Bengals HC Marvin Lewis (a former D Coordinator) will look for defensive help with this pick. At #17, Cincy win nab the best edge-rusher of the draft in Ohio State's Will Smith. Smith is an exceptional D lineman with impressive size and strength. As a Senior in 2003, Smith led the Buckeyes with 11 sacks and 20 TFL.
18 CB Derrick Strait Oklahoma
Strait will be a welcomed addition to one of the league's weakest secondaries. He's an experienced and skilled CB having been a mainstay in Oklahoma's starting lineup since his freshman year and earning both the Bronko Nagurski Award as the best all-around defensive player in college football and the Jim Thorpe Award as best defensive back as a Senior in 2003.
19 DE Kenechi Udeze * USC
Minnesota's defense has improved, but it's still not where it should be for this team to be dominant. Kevin Williams was a nice addition to the inside of the D front a year ago, but now it's time for the Vikings to find the pass-rusher who can get after the QB and take some of the pressure off the secondary. Kenechi Udeze is one of the best and biggest rushers in this draft. He recorded 22 TFL and 14 sacks as a Junior in 2003.
20 LB D.J. Williams Miami
Miami has invested too much in the Griese-Fiedler combo, so don't look for them to buy a QB this early. The Dolphins could use help along the O line, but that need will probably be satisfied in the second or third frame. In local boy D.J. Williams, the Dolphins get a superior OLB with remarkable instincts and blazing speed. Williams could replace either Morlon Greenwood (free agent) or veteran Junior Seau in a year or so.
21 From Baltimore DE Antwan Odom * Alabama
A RB would be ideal, but Belichick may have to wait considering the fact that D linemen Ted Washington, Bobby Hamilton, Rick Lyle, and Anthony Pleasant are all free agents. Odom has ideal size to play the 3-4 as a DE.
22 RB Greg Jones Florida State
Tuna has a tough decision. Find an immediate replacement for QB Quincy Carter or and immediate replacement for RB Troy Hambrick. While he'd like to replace both, he can only do so much with one first round pick. The selection should be made for Jones, a punishing runner who has bounced back very well from a knee injury sustained in '02. By the 2004 season, Jones will be 100%, which means he'll be able to run over and/or around opposing LBs just as he did at Florida State.
23 DT Randy Starks * Maryland
Seattle needs a lot of help up front. While a DE would be preferred, a talent like Starks cannot be passed up. He's got the most upside of any D lineman available at #23 and he's a solid run stuffer who could eventually replace veteran John Randle.
24 CB Will Poole USC
The playoff loss to Indy proved that this secondary is shaky at best. The CB position looks like the team's most glaring need. USC's Will Poole has seen his stock soar in 2003. He's a good athlete with exceptional ball skills and impressive speed.
25 QB Cody Pickett Washington
The Packers may want to consider help for an inconsistent secondary, but now would be a good time to consider an eventual replacement for Favre. Current backup Doug Pederson is no spring chicken either (age 35). If the Packers are ready to start building for the future, Pickett is a solid choice. Pickett had a down year in 2003 under a new head coach in a new system, but he still has an NFL arm, good mechanics, and better than average mobility. He threw for 28 TDs and over 4,400 yards as a Junior in 2002. Pickett will learn from and eventually take over for Brett Favre.
26 WR Lee Evans Wisconsin
Clearly Carolina's greatest need is a receiver, someone to work opposite Kevin Dyson and/or Steve Smith. Evans will give QB Jake Delhomme a reliable target in the passing game and take some of the pressure off Stephen Davis and the run.
27 OT Nat Dorsey * Georgia Tech
The Titans lack youth and depth along the O line. Current OT starters Fred Miller (30yo) and Brad Hopkins (33yo) need a young backup. Dorsey is an exceptional talent with good experience despite his "underclassman" status.
28 DT Marcus Tubbs Texas
Indy could do a lot with this pick. While Dungy may need to fill/upgrade a few spots defensively, their greatest need is a run-stuffing DT, and that's exactly what they'll get in Marcus Tubbs. Help for the secondary or a replacement for free agent OLB Marcus Washington could also be considered.
29 OT Vernon Carey Miami
The O line has been one of the strongest and most reliable aspects of the Ram attack this season, but St. Louis has to anticipate future problems considering their inability to keep All-Pro Orlando Pace happy, and the fact that both OGs, Timmerman (32yo) and McCollum (33yo) are aging. Versatile backup John St. Claire is a free agent, so the O line needs to be addressed. Carey is an intimidating O lineman with impressive 6-5, 360-pound size and experience at both OT and OG.
30 S Sean Jones * Georgia
K.C. still needs a lot of help defensively, but because they're drafting so low, they're forced to select the best talent available rather than satisfy a need. Jones is an exceptional DB who can play either Free or Strong Safety for the Chiefs. He's an exceptional tackler with good instincts and just as productive against the run as he is against the pass.
31 LB Jonathon Vilma Miami
The Eagles have a solid D, so they would consider a WR if a potential superstar is still available at #31. Since that scenario seems unlikely, Philly will select Jonathon Vilma to bolster the LB corps. Vilma has the speed and skill-set to excel at any LB position and has been one of the nation's best the past three seasons.
32 RB Chris Perry Michigan
This may be a little high for Perry, who projects as a second-rounder, but New England is desperate for a RB. Still, Perry rushed for well over 2,500 yards and 30 TDs the past two seasons at Michigan. More importantly, he has the skill-set an attitude that would blend perfectly with Belichick's Patriots.

ELI MANNING

QB

Mississippi
With Drew Brees proving to be just average the Chargers decide to upgrade the top position on the team. Eli Manning has the pedigree, the maturity and the arm. Good savvy QB not liken their other 1st round pick in Leaf. – They might take Roethlisberger.

2

Oakland

LARRY FITZGERALD

WR

Pittsburgh
The Raiders will listen hard and long concerning trades for this selection. But in the end they will have to grab the most exciting player in the draft. A WR with his skills and hands would be a perfect addition for the Raiders

3

Arizona

BEN ROETHLISBERGER

QB

Miami Ohio
The Cardinals have a crying need for a DT and there are two very good ones in the draft but they certainly could use a prime time QB. I like Josh McCown but the new coach just might want to start with a new guy.

4

N Y Giants

SEAN TAYLOR

S

Miami Fl.
The Giants hardly ever move from their spot in round 1 but they just might be tempted to do so this year. After listening to offers they will select Taylor who is an impact player and possible rookie of the year. A force at his position and does fill a spot for the Giants defense

5

Washington

VINCE WILFORK

DT

Miami Fl.
The redskins could use a RB like Kevin Jones and need a DE to replace Bruce Smith. But their interior defense is just average and a player of Wilfork’s ability is hard to pass on.

6

Detroit

STEVEN JACKSON

RB

Oregon St.
The Lions get their guy after trying to trade up for most of the day. Jackson is a big time RB that brings instant offense for the Lions – a huge addition

7

Cleveland

ROBERT GALLERY

T

Iowa
The Browns will look extra long at Kellen Winslow but the glaring need is for an OT and there are 2 very good ones right before their eyes. They will spend their time trying to decide which one (Gallery or Andrews)

8

Atlanta

SHANE ANDREWS

T

Arkansas
Michael Vick would love to get one of the Williams receivers as he would cherish the talented ones. But, Atlanta needs to protect their franchise and Vick certainly is that guy

9

Jacksonville

ROY WILLIAMS

WR

Texas
They have a good QB in Leftwich and now they got a guy who can go and catch the ball from hi. A big need who is a playmaker and a deep threat

10

Houston

RANDY STARKS

DT

Maryland
In somewhat of a surprise the Texans take Starks over Tommy Harris. But it might make more sense to them as Starks is a little more sound with fundamentals.

11

Pittsburgh

DEANGELO HALL

CB

Va Tech
The Steelers will make every attempt to move up for a QB but will decide the price is too much. Therefore they will turn to their need which is CB. There are some good corners in this draft but not the exceptional corner. They might select RB Kevin Jones

12

N Y Jets

REGGIE WILLIAMS

WR

Washington
The Jets would like to add a WR but they need a CB and a LB – Marlin Jackson is the kind of corner the Jets need but D J Williams is the outstanding LB they could use. I really do not know what to give the Jets but with Pennington having Moss and Becht he could use a big tall WR and Reggie is 6-3 225 and good

<B>
13

Buffalo

LEE EVANS

WR

Wisconsin
Another team who could select Marlin Jackson but will satisfy another need and add an explosive WR to stretch the field, While Josh Harris is developing he does not stretch the field. Evans will do just that. Might see them bite hard and take Winslow TE</B>

Chicago

KELLEN WINSLOW

TE

Miami Fl.
I believe the Bears would love to add a DT like Starks and will look hard at Tommy Harris but after a lot of discussions they will select TE Winslow – a need

15

Tampa Bay

MICHAEL CLAYTON

WR

LSU
The Bucs could use a top notch LB and there are some in this draft but with the situation at WR with Keyshawn I believe the Bucs will attempt to find a top notch receiver

16
S F 49er’s
MARLIN JACKSON
CB
Michigan
San Francisco could grab a corner back or they might look at WR if Terrell Owens leaves. They might decide their DL needs an upgrade as well.

17

Cincinnati

KARLOS DANSBY

LB

Auburn
Marvin Lewis made the Bengals respectable. Now he goes to work on making them good. – could look at Strait (CB) but an impact at OLB will go a long way to making Lewis defense tough

18

New Orleans

D J WILLIAMS

LB

Miami Fl.
WOW! The Saints have a crying need for a top LB and they see both Dansby and Williams on the board with only 1 team ahead of them. I imagine the Saints will rush to the podium. Williams becomes a starter

19

Minnesota

DERRICK STRAIT

CB

Oklahoma
Part of the reason why the Vikings collapsed is they had problems at the corner. They have solid opportunistic Safeties. The Vikings also need a DE but believe they can find a good one in round 2 but not a top corner.

20

Miami

TEDDY LEHMAN

OLB

Oklahoma
The Dolphins might take a leap and draft a QB and Rivers would make sense but they have needs that over shadow a desire. They need an OL and OLB real bad. They also could use another WR on the other side of Chambers

21
New England
CHRIS PERRY
RB
Michigan
Might be a little early but the Patriots believe they have struck gold. He has Patriot football written all over him.

22

Dallas

WILL SMITH

DE

Ohio St.
The Dallas Cowboys have the #1 rated defense and need a RB in the worse way but in seeing a DE as good as Smith still on the board the powers that be on the Cowboys persuade Jerry Jones

23
Seattle
TOMMY HARRIS
DT
Oklahoma
Seattle has needs on defense and could grab LB and might decide on a DE but a player ranked as high as Harris has been will be the swaying argument.

24

Green Bay

To the

Steelers

PHILLIP RIVERS

QB

N. Carolina

St.
Green Bay would dearly love to get Will Smith DE and they believe Derrick Strait has enough speed and superior instincts to man their island corner but will miss out on both. They could go after David Pollack DE but they too with about 20 other teams are worried about some of his efforts this past year.

Green Bay trades this selection to the Steelers for the Steelers 2nd round selection and Pittsburgh’s 1st round pick in 2005

Pittsburgh selects Phillip Rivers

25

Denver

RICARDO COLCLOUGH

CB

Tusculum
Another team I have no clue. They may need a WR and I also think they have a need at DT. But there are no DT’s worthy of round 1 on the board – A guess

26

Carolina

JOHN P. LOSMAN

QB

Tulane
The Panthers were really hoping for Rivers to be there. Yes they have Weinke and Delhomme but a big time QB is needed. They also need an OLB and had centered on Lehman who brings speed and quickness and smarts. In a surprise they decide to go after a strong arm QB

27

St. Louis

BEN TROUPE

TE

Florida
It will come down to Vernon Carey OG and Ben Troupe TE – I believe they need Carey more but Martz loves his offense skilled players

28

Tennessee

VERN CAREY

G

Miami Fl.
Needs are OLB – OG and a dependable WR – I just do not think the Titans are that high on Woods and the next best receiver is not on the same level as are other players

29

Indianapolis

NATHAN VASHER

CB

Texas
The Colts I hear really like Nathan Vasher but did not expect Chris Gamble to still be up there. But Gamble is still a work in progress and Vasher is more advanced

30

Kansas City

DWAN EDWARDS

DT

Oregon St.
As much as the Chiefs should pay attention to their defense they are seriously thinking WR. But since I am their GM in this mock I am giving them a rock hard-nosed tough DT for their DL

31

Philadelphia

JUSTIN SMILEY

G

Alabama
The Eagles defense is slipping a little and they could use a LB but their OL is a mess. Might be a little reach but Smiley is a good OL

32

New England

STUART SCHWEIGART

S

Purdue
The Patriots filled a need earlier and they fill the other pressing need here. Comes down to Schweigart and Brimmer. Remember the Patriots draft to their system and not necessarily the highest ranked player

Team Projected Pick The CFN Pick Would Be ...
1. San Diego Eli Manning, QB Ole Miss Ben Roethlisberger, QB Miami
How many quarterbacks taken in the first two rounds of the draft since 1990 have won Super Bowls for the team that chose them? Try zero of 42 (and 1 of 54 since 1984 with only Troy Aikman bucking the trend.) In today's NFL, a great quarterback will get you far, but you're dead when that QB has a bad game in the playoffs (i.e. Peyton Manning vs. New England). While teams keep investing millions upon millions of dollars for quarterbacks in the first round, other teams are getting to Super Bowls with players like Tom Brady, Jake Delhomme, Brad Johnson, Rich Gannon and Kurt Warner. With that said, San Diego needs a quarterback. The philosophy should always be to take the best player in the draft, and that's Roethlisberger in this draft. To exorcise demons of Ryan Leaf, San Diego is going to take Eli Manning, but the Ole Miss star isn't Peyton, has an average NFL arm, and his main positives are his intangibles and abilities to manage a game. In other words, he's a souped up Drew Brees. Roethlisberger is bigger, stronger, faster, and better throwing on the move than Manning, but he doesn't have Eli's four years of college experience and pedigree.
2. Oakland Ben Roethlisberger, QB Miami Univ. Larry Fitzgerald, WR Pittsburgh
Oakland found out in painful fashion that it doesn't have a quarterback. The other problem is at receiver where Tim Brown has hit a wall, Jerry Rice can't go on forever, and Jerry Porter is a supremely talented enigma. Fitzgerald is the closest thing you can get to a sure-thing.
3. Arizona Kenechi Udeze, DE USC Eli Manning, QB Ole Miss
Yeah, yeah I know, I keep dogging Manning for being a prospect built more on hype than substance. He's a late first round talent that'll be a top pick because of his name, but Arizona needs to make a splash and needs to give the fan base hope. Manning would be the type of positive personality the beleaguered franchise needs to start to turn things around. Roy Williams would be the better pick to pair alongside Anquan Boldin, but the Cardinals will go for the superstar pass rusher if none of the quarterbacks drop.
4. NY Giants Larry Fitzgerald, WR Pittsburgh Roy Williams, WR Texas
New York needs big-time help on the lines and could end up taking Iowa's Robert Gallery. The offense needs more firepower as well, and one of the star receivers would be too good to pass up.
5. Washington Robert Gallery, OT Iowa Robert Gallery, OT Iowa
Joe Gibbs built his Washington powerhouse on the offensive line. There's no way Gallery should last any longer than fifth. The Skins have talent at tackle, so someone might move up to this spot.
6. Detroit Kellen Winslow, TE Miami Steven Jackson, RB Oregon State
The Lions desperately need a running back to help the pitiful ground attack and to take the pressure off marginally talented quarterback Joey Harrington. Jackson is the best of an average lot of running back prospects. This might be a wee bit high for the Beaver star and Harrington needs targets to throw to, so Winslow should end up being the pick if Jackson or Virginia Tech's Kevin Jones don't get taken.
7. Atlanta*
(subject to coin flip) Tommie Harris, DT Oklahoma Sean Taylor, S Miami
The Falcons went down the tubes when Michael Vick got hurt, so there might be some interest in trading up to get Gallery to protect the franchise. Atlanta needs defensive help as well, and there's no better player on the board than Taylor. He should be a top five pick, but won't be.
8. Cleveland*
(subject to coin flip) Sean Taylor, S Miami Kellen Winslow, TE Miami
Cleveland has a who's who of mediocre offensive talent, so Winslow would be the game-breaking weapon to help open everything up. The defense isn't all that bad, but Taylor is going to be too good to pass up.
9. Jacksonville Roy Williams, WR Texas Reggie Williams, WR Washington
The Jaguars need receivers for Byron Leftwich to throw to. Roy Williams would be a dream pick if he's still on the board. Reggie Williams wouldn't be a bad second choice.
10. Houston Shawn Andrews, OT Arkansas Shawn Andrews, OT Arkansas
Franchise quarterback David Carr continues to get crushed. The big Hog is more dominating as a run blocker, but he has the feet to be a star pass protector as well.
11. Pittsburgh Steven Jackson, RB Oregon State Kenechi Udeze, DE USC
Jerome Bettis is on his last legs and the Amos Zereoue experience hasn't exactly taken flight. Jackson or Kevin Jones would be an immediate starter. If Udeze really lasts this long, he'd be the obvious selection.
12. NY Jets Dunta Robinson, CB South Carolina Kevin Jones, RB Virginia Tech
The Jets could use linebacking help, so Auburn's Karlos Dansby and Miami's D.J. Williams will get long looks. The pass defense could also use a little work. Robinson might not have all the publicity of Oklahoma's Derrick Strait or Virginia Tech's DeAngelo Hall, but he might be even more ready to step in and play right away. The Jets should also think about a running back with Curtis Martin winding down.
<B>13. Buffalo Reggie Williams, WR Washington Tommie Harris, DT Oklahoma
Buffalo needs offense and needs to do anything it can to put points on the board. Reggie Williams will be the most likely pick with Michael Clayton getting some consideration. Not exactly enamored with LSU product Josh Reed, Clayton might be a hard sell to the Bill brass. Harris would be way too good to pass up in this spot.</B>
14. Chicago Vince Wilfolk, DT Miami Chris Perry, RB Michigan
The Bears lost/gave away its bulk on the D line and will most likely go with Wilfolk or Maryland's Randy Starks. Even more of an issue was the offense as new head coach Lovie Smith and offensive coordinator Terry Shea are going to want weapons to turn things around. Stung after taking underachieving Wolverine WR David Terrell and average RB Anthony Thomas, Chris Perry might make the Bear fans grumble. However, Perry's receiving abilities make him the complete back needed for the new Chicago offense.
15. Tampa Bay Kevin Jones, RB Virginia Tech Vince Wilfolk, DT Miami
It's not a slam-dunk that Tampa Bay is going to go offense as the defense could use a little tuning up as well. The miserable Buccaneer corps of running backs could use an infusion of talent, but the D line is going to need some beef in a hurry if Warren Sapp is gone.
16. San Francisco Will Smith, DE Ohio State Derrick Strait, CB Oklahoma
San Francisco needs help with its pass defense. Oklahoma's Derrick Strait, Virginia Tech's DeAngelo Hall, and South Carolina's Dunta Robinson (if still on the board) would be good fits. However, nothing helps a bad pass defense more than pass rush, and there aren't many better at getting to the quarterback than Ohio State's Will Smith.
17. Cincinnati D.J. Williams, LB Miami Dunta Robinson, CB South Carolina
Cincinnati needs defensive players that can immediately play. Marvin Lewis and staff could go any one of a number of directions with great value at several positions still on the board.
18. New Orleans Derrick Strait, CB New Orleans Will Smith, DE Ohio State
New Orleans needs pass defense and cover-corners. Strait would be a great pick here, and if Smith lasts this long, would be a fantastic value to pressure the passer.
19. Minnesota DeAngelo Hall, CB Virginia Tech DeAngelo Hall, CB Virginia Tech
Minnesota just needs to amass as much defensive talent as possible. With his speed, Hall would be a tremendous player on the Metrodome turf.
20. Miami Jacob Rogers, OT USC Jacob Rogers, OT USC
The Dolphins desperately need more talent on the offensive line and could also use a quarterback. Since there aren't any quarterbacks of value, Miami will go with Rogers, Miami's Vernon Carey, or Georgia Tech's Nat Dorsey.
21. New England (Balt) Chris Perry, RB Michigan Michael Clayton, WR LSU
The Patriots wouldn't mind getting Chris Perry here, but look for them to package their first round picks to move up to try and select Kevin Jones or Steven Jackson. Despite all the receivers Tom Brady likes to go to, there isn't the one superstar that stands out among the pack. Clayton could be that player.
22. Dallas Randy Starks, DT Maryland Philip Rivers, QB NC State
Dallas has to get a running back, but after Jackson, Jones and Perry, there isn't one worth taking until the mid-rounds. This is a Bill Parcells team, so he's going to take Starks, who should be the best defensive player available. However, the plug has to quickly be pulled on the Quincy Carter era if the Cowboys are going to advance. NC State's Philip Rivers is Eli Manning without the PR and will end up being a fantastic pro if someone believes in him. He'd be the exact type of quarterback that could deal with Parcells' constant berating, and would be good enough to make the immensely talented receiving corps shine.
23. Seattle Marcus Tubbs, DT Texas Randy Starks, DT Maryland
The Seahawks need to load up on as many good defensive players as possible.
24. Denver Chris Gamble, CB Ohio State Lee Evans, WR Wisconsin
Denver is desperate for a consistent cover-corner, but Gamble would be a bit of a (sorry) gamble still needing another year or two of work on his technique. With the Denver receiving corps getting old in a hurry and former first round pick Ashley Lelie still unable to provide a consistent target, Evans would be a solid addition for Jake Plummer to work with.
25. Green Bay Vernon Carey, OL Miami D.J. Williams, LB Miami
Every year it's the same thing; Green Bay needs a quarterback to groom behind Brett Favre. However, Green Bay doesn't need to invest a first round pick in a player to try and fill the Hall-of-Fame, but hopelessly flawed shoes of No. 4 needing to keep loading up with players to try and win right now. Carey would be the sort of versatile lineman who could step in and find a starting spot. If Williams lasts this long, he'd be a steal.
26. St. Louis Karlos Dansby, LB Auburn Marcus Tubbs, DT Texas
St. Louis needs more defense and would love for one of the top corners to slide. Dansby or Tubbs wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.
27. Tennessee Nat Dorsey, OT Georgia Tech Vernon Carey, OL Miami
Tennessee's biggest concern is on the offensive line needing to protect the always injured Steve McNair. This is a big draft pick as one productive lineman might be the last piece to the Titan offensive puzzle. Dorsey has had issues with his weight but should blossom into a productive pro.
28. Philadelphia Lee Evans, WR Wisconsin Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma St
The Eagles could use help in the defensive front seven, but as the playoffs showed, receivers are the obvious pressing need. Donovan McNabb needs Woods or Evans to help his cause.
29. Indianapolis Darnell Dockett, DT Florida State Karlos Dansby, LB Auburn
The Indianapolis defense needs beef, beef and more beef upfront. Dockett isn't the space-eater like Vince Wilfolk, Marcus Tubbs or Tommie Harris, but he might be the most talented tackle in the draft. Dansby would also be a big help to the Colt front seven.
30. Kansas City Michael Clayton, WR LSU P.K. Sam, WR Florida State
It's amazing that the Chiefs have been as productive on offense as they've been considering how mediocre the wide receivers are. Clayton, Lee Evans or Rashaun Woods would be a sure-thing, but the home-run pick would be Sam. He's a lanky receiver with tremendous speed, and he might be the next sensational NFL receiver from the Seminole program.
31. Carolina Teddy Lehman, LB Oklahoma Bob Sanders, S Iowa
Carolina doesn't need much other than a bit more explosion on offense, so a top-flight receiver might be the needed pick. The Panthers already have solid safeties, but there's always room for more talent like Iowa's ultra-athletic, madly productive Sanders. If the 5-8 Sanders was two inches taller, he'd be considered worthy of a top 20 selection.
32. New England Rashaun Woods, WR Oklahoma St Michael Turner, RB Northern Illinois
Depth on the offensive line is a must, but the Patriots need to keep stockpiling offensive playmakers. With the lousy Antowain Smith the team's main rushing option, a powerful back with deceptive speed like Turner would start right away.

People do care about them or they wouldn't have them in the first place. Besides it's fun doing the guessing game. If you don't like them don't come to to this forum.

Anybody care to put together just a list of all the mock draft websites? I usually just use footballsfuture.com, I know hail redskins is a good one too. Anybody got the time to list them all out or at least the decentones updates regularily.
