View Full Version : Ruben Paycut? Why he's the best

I hope this organization doesn't play itself and ask Brown to take a cut in pay. Mr. consistency will be insulted and will take that trip North to NE. He is a pro bowl lineman, our most experienced, our best run blocker, and since he will make that trip to Hawaii he must be the best pass blocker (who can tell in that mess). Ruben has said he wants to stay but dont take that as a willingness not to get paid what he's owed on his contract. I see this staff trying to push the money issue and the Bills losing the best lineman in team history. Say goodbye to the bad guy. ACC UNC Knocks #1 UCONN

You've only followed the Bills since about '93 right?

Must be - He forgets the likes of Billy Shaw, Joe D., Kent Hull and a number of others. I like Ruben, and I want him to stay, but he's not even the best O lineman on this team anymore.

Who is the best on the team if not Brown?

Pro Bowl is a popularity contest for the most part...he continues to get in on name recognition....or do you really think that Tasker should have gotten in the Pro Bowl for special teams when he hardly played special teams at all that year? :cynic:

Glad to Know I have changed your day. You opinion is appreciated but not necessary. Besides who cares what you like? But seriously he is the best and the Eight pro bowls in a row show it. Reguardless of Ruben haters what's the problem with the Pro Bowler?

The 5 or 6 names that have already been given are a good list to me.

It's a popularity contest with the players judging, that's why it is still the measure of excellence in the league not like that spectacle in the NBA. Tasker was respected around the league for his effort on "D" and special teams, thats just the way the players chose to reward his play since he obviously wasn't a Pro Bowler at his position. ACC

Ruben won't be a HoF lineman. Buffalo has 2 already- Billy Shaw and Joe D. Kent Hull will also make it in.

I'd stick Shaw, Joe D, Reggie McKenzie, Hull, and Wolford ahead of Brown.

No one hates Ruben. Why do so many posts wind up like this?

He has been a very good player for us, and a great member of the community. I, and others like me that go back a little further, may not be willing to annoint him our best O lineman ever - but that's our opinion, and it doesn't mean we hate Ruben.

Why can't we have discussions on this board without all the "I hate Drew" and "you hate Ruben" and "she hates TD" mentality?

 Players a lot of the times vote for buddies on other squads. The GMs, coaches, and writers should be the ones behind who goes in...noone else.

He was a Pro Bowler at ST..just not that year...and when did Tasker ever play on "D?"

You dont think he's a HOF lineman? How many Pro Bowls gets you in 10? That's respect around the league. Ruben did alot to help Thurman and Kelly to get to those bowls. I think he'll get in, he's an Ironman to play at that level for that long.

:bf1: well said.

In the eyes of people outside of Buffalo Ruben is an excellent guard...people look at the 8 time probowler and are swayed. Against his peers of today he is one of the best. If cut loose he would command a very sizable contract and somebody would pay it.

I Guess he was a ST Lifer? No Player input would exclude the most crucial Judge? What do writers Know to have a vote on anything?

Then why is much of the discussion about asking an 8 time consecutive Pro Bowler, Who is your best run and pass blocker, and to whom your new coach is going to rely on next year as the most experienced lineman,to take a PAYCUT. Or even releasing him. Yeah some of you guys dont seem to appreciate him and his long term commitment to this organization. This guy makes careers.

Steve Tasker was a special teams player- probably one of the best in the NFL's history. For most of his career he was the Bills's 5th WR , until after the Super Bowl years when Lofton and Beebe departed. Then he climbed the depth chart to 3rd string- sometimes starting due to injury.

In one game vs the Jets, he had 168 yards receiving - doubling his career total. He also managed a 100 yard game in the playoffs.

He never played defense.

I don't know if you ever read the zone front page Juice, but we are running a Steve Tasker piece right now.

We also have a Buffalo Bills history page- I strongly urge you to read it before comparing current players to the "best of all time"- you need to know what the competition for that title is.

I said the Big East is Overrated. The ACC has the Juice and a darn good QB entering the draft,Rivers NC State, and in a year or two another by the name of Vick.

Brown has only got in for two reasons;

1) His name starts with B
2) People mistake him for Charlie brown and want to get back at that bitch Lucy for always pulling the ball out from under him.

I know you used to like VT, take it easy we'll let you cross over to ACC COUNTRY. Just wanted your opinion on whether Brown will be a Bill next year, the rest you can keep on that side of the border. I dont think he will be in Buffalo. You Yankees
