Everytime I get on the internet within the first 15 minutes I get this RPC(Remote Procedure Call) thing that has a ticker that counts down, then my computer restarts.. Ive checked my cpu for viruses and there are none.. Ive called my internet company and they say its not them.. So I call my computer company(sony) and they say its not them..

Does anyone else have this problem or have solved this problem.. Im about to get rid of the internet all together soon..

Thanks for any help you can give..

It could be spyware- try downloading a program called Ad-Aware 6.0 (I can't remember the site- just do a google search). It will remove all spyware from your computer. If that doesn't work, then it must be something else and you'll have to ask someone who's nerdier than me for the answer.

You have the blaster virus or a related one. do a search on stinger from mcaffe and run it. If that doesn't work then do a ctrl alt del and look at your processes. Search each one of the exe.files that you don't recogonise to see what they are. Sonds like a worm of some sort. :nerd: :D

Just recently we had a new carpet installed in the living room. Well when it was all said and done the little lady decided that the computer wasn't going to be in the same room anymore. So I packed it all up and moved it to the spare room. When I set the system all up it was exactly the same setup, but my god was my connection slow. I have roadrunner and it was getting very frustrating, my old dial up would load pages faster. So I went about cleaning up the system. Norton optimizer 2 times, Ad-Aware a couple dozen times, everything I could think of. Still slow.

Then the other day when the pipes froze up and I had to crawl under the house I noticed that the cable feed to that room was split into 3 different leads. I disconnected 2 of them for they lead to nothing and hooked 1 up to main splitter coming into the house. What a difference, I'm back to being fast!

Good god, im just surprised this is happening to you and not me. That is something that typically WOULD happen to me.

Maybe you could call Best Buy or some place that fixes computers? You might have a virus.

I don't know Silent- but all your typing still looks garbled- I can't understand a thing you said.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your operating system again.

LMAO @ Dozer.

SIlent one...you need to do more than just reinstall XP, you need to format. Reinstalling just lays a new OS over the old one. If you can still see files from the old set-up by going to Drive "C" and looking at documents and settings and if you see the old files, you are just running XP over the old OS.

Unless you did a complete formatting, then you will be affected again.
