Mularkey to finish out his staff this week..

Coaching Staff Next Project: Look for Mike Mularkey to be busy this week rounding out his coaching staff. The biggest position left to be filled, is the special teams coach since Danny Smith is headed to Washington. He will likely keep at least a few of the defensive assistants but will need to hire all new offensive coaches. One of the big questions that is unclear at this point is if he will hire a QB coach or if Tom Clements will perform those duties

according to this, we are losing steckel and graves.. what do you guys think about that? i personally liked them both fine.

I had no problems with them or praise. I hope we can sigh Pete Rodriguez as our Special Teams coach.

Any GW hiring including Bubble Yum Danny Smith leaving is OK with me.

One of the reasons I did not especially want a defensive specialist as the Bills' new head coach was the likelihood that he would automatically dismiss the entire defensive staff. No matter how good the replacements, that would have meant an entirely new system with everyone having to relearn everything but the fundamentals of how to play the position. That might have meant games lost next season because players still did not have the new system so overlearned that they could react rather than think. The defence did not need a new system IMO.

The offence did. In spite of the fact that Steckel and Graves may be nice guys and competent coaches, we have to concede to a head coach, who is a specialist in offence, the right to select assistants with whom he is comfortable and that he feels are the best assistants to coach the offence he wants to run. I don't think there is really any valid argument to the contrary.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I still think Les Steckel may stay. I heard he used to be Mularkey's coach. Maybe Mularkey may keep him for that reason. Or the fact that he helped Travis Henry get rid of his fumble problem.

I think the article probably overstated the present organizational needs.

For awhile yes...but didn't it start to rear it's ugly head again late in the year? I forgot....

Anway I agree with TigerJ. The D was solid so no need to rock the boat there. But the O was so bad that I think we need to flush the toilet and let the Ty-D-Bowl man do his thing. Blue water for '04!
