Casserly will not address the issue but, NFL sources suggest, there are enough potential suitors. Among the franchises that might be interested in acquiring Henson, who almost certainly would have been a first-round draft choice if he had stayed at Michigan for his final two seasons of eligibility, are Buffalo, Green Bay, Kansas City, Miami and Pittsburgh.

Basically, anybody who needs a QB is listed.

Why give a pick up when you can draft him later? Sign him to a contract, then If I were trhe Bills is would talk. Not until

because who ever does take a chance in this draft will love the fact that they did if he signs with them. assuming he still has the talent potential he did at michigan

Henson played over Tom Brady at Michigan, and could be a very good QB. Houston was so smart for picking him up. Why didn't we do that?

i wouldnt give up anything higher than a 3rd for henson.. purely based on the fact that football is not his true love, baseball is.. so i question his dedication to the game... he would only be coming to play football because he was a failure at baseball, but is still looking for a paycheck.

michael jordan's true love is baseball, not basketball. Have you ever questioned his dedication to the game?

You would take a guy who hasn't been actively throwing a football over someone who has been doing it consistently for at 4 years at the College level? I do agree however that if we were to persue Henson I wouldn't give them any higher then a 3rd.

If you can take a running back with a blown out knee in the 1st, you can trade a second for this QB. I would trade this years second for him. I liked him a lot in colllege. The only question is the rust he would have, but he is still young and the Bills have time to work with him.

Ask yourself this-

Why give a 2nd or 3rd when you could offer a 7th 1 day before the draft?

Or use a 5th or 6th rd pick on him in next year's draft? Plus, he's already rich- he can afford to hold out.

I would not bother.

Career Notes | Agility | High School | Personal | Stats

ANALYSIS
Positives: Confident field general with a strong personality … Tough and durable, absorbing punishing shots without ever being knocked out of a game … Has fine delivery and passing mechanics, hitting receivers in stride on timing patterns … Keeps his cool under pressure … Very quick driving away from the center while setting up, showing the body control needed to throw on the move … Carries the ball chest-high and is always ready to throw … Has quick wrist action in his delivery and the power behind his tosses so he does not have to plant in order to throw the deep passes … Knows how to adjust his release based on angles taken while throwing … Can drill the ball in the seam playing the short-area passing game and keeps receivers within their routes by feathering the ball to them on long bombs … Shows good backside awareness rolling out of the pocket … Scans the field effectively and throws with impressive velocity in the intermediate and short range … Can also hold for placements.
Negatives: Tends to lock onto his primary receivers too much … Looks too long at his primary targets, taking unnecessary punishment when the pocket collapses, rather than throwing the ball out of bounds to prevent a turnover … Needs to improve his timing patterns to prevent receivers from having to adjust and turn constantly on routes … Will need a little refinement in his delivery, as he does not open and close his shoulders quickly … Overthrows at times on fades and post patterns … Availability is under review, as he is still under contract to the New York Yankees baseball organization.

You should know better than relate college stats to NFL potential and ability. I can name you lots of college qb's with great stats that couldn't play in the NFL.

Navarre had double that. Do you think he will be a star?

NO WAY. Henson was a better prospect than Rivers or Losman. Probably right up there with Rothesburger and Manning.

With Boone out for the season, Henson might get an opportunity with the Yankees. If he's leaving, I doubt it'll be in 2004.

I don't think so jeff. From what I was reading regarding the Yankees 3rd base situation they are not even considering Henson. He couldn't hit at the triple-a level and he isn't in their plans. Henson will be somewhere in the NFL next year and I hope it's in buffalo.

no.. i dont think navarre will be a star.. but i dont want to pin my hopes on a guy that shared the starting position w/ another qb and never threw for more than 2900 yards in his entire college career..

hell.. we mine as well look at good highschool qbs that never went to college.. same difference.

Nope, Sheffield will probably play third. Here's an article from yankees.com:

Henson's out in NY. Being a Yankee fan I know that Steinbrenner wants nothing to do with this guy given his performance in AAA last year. Not to mention, Steinbrenner hates anyone considering taking on other opportunites. That's why Deion or Bo never would have been in a Yankee uni. It's baseball or nothing with ole Georgie.

Not worth the risk IMO. Like a lot of you say 3rd rounder maybe.

I think the fact that this guy hasn't thrown a pass isn't as imposing as the fact that he hasn't been inside of a heated pass rush in just as long as well.

Who knows where this guy is right now as far as talent level. This would be a tall risk for any team.

Rivers is battle tested and less of a risk.
