ESPN on the Panthers' no-talent D

Listening to ESPN's NFL Tonight -- talking about how well Carolina's basic Cover-2 defense is working for this undertalented inexperienced team.

GW/JG -- are you listening? It seems to be a good idea to put an undertalented inexperienced defense into a very basic system with a STRONG SAFETY NET -- like the Cover 2. Why can you two "defensive geniuses" NOT grasp this simple common-sense concept?

So when GW was hired, we could have had Fox? Darn.

there is one big difference, The Panthers have a very good d-line, and often get pressure on the qb. cover-2 isn't very effective without it.(no defense really is)

Is the Panthers' d-line loaded with talent, or just good in spite of lack of talent (sincere question -- I really don't know)?

the addition of peppers alone makes them a dangerous group. they dont have great depth on that line, but if they can stay health they can stay dangerous.

Carolina has a very talented front-7, it is their secondary that is weak. They have legitimate big-time players in Dan Morgan, Mike Rucker and Julius Peppers. They have real solid players like Mark Fields, Hannibal Navies, Brentson Buckner and Kris Jenkins (and absolute steal for a 2nd-round pick a year ago. They have some depth with Lester Towns, Sean Gilbert, Shane Burton and Al Wallace.

That is a very talented front-7, among the better in the NFL.
