I just heard on ESPN Radio, 1010am The Team out of Tampa, that the Jets are talking to Atlanta about acquiring P. Price for a draft pick.

No way. Not going to happen....The Falcons are not going to destroy this years cap and trade away their best receiver for an unproven rookie.

Even if it made sense on the field, cap wise it would be a joke.
All that bonus would be accelerated into their cap NOW, and if that happened they could not afford TO or anyone for that matter

If Price were traded, the Falcons would have him sitting on their cap for almost $8.6M in dead money in 2004. That is almost $5M more than he costs on their cap if he plays for them this year.

I can't see them doing that, even if they really like Owens. It would be cheaper for them to keep Price this year and sign Owens anyway.

I think it's a case of irrisponsible reporting on the radio.

Wont happen, least shouldnt anyway Atlanta is building quite the team imo, and if they sign TO and get a nice defensive draft it could be toruble down south.

It is never cheaper to keep a player; it may cost less cap space but that is an artificial construct. The owner Blank, who owns Home Depot chain, understands that which is why he reduced ticket prices when Falcons were not selling well. If he thinks he can get what he wants for Price then he will trade him. Too many people seem to misunderstand how the cap works - for a team which is getting a new coach and where many internal people of the Falcons organization are questioning Price's heart, trading Price now while he has some value might make sense.
