The Zone's Chris Hare will run a comprehensive look at the 2004 draft, and do the top ten rankings for each position. This week he looks at the running backs.

1- Kevin Jones, Virginia Tech (1) 6’0 211 Lbs Is a below-average inside runner for a top prospect. Has adequate size and good strength, but doesn't run with authority between the tackles. He has very quick feet and an incredible burst through the hole.

2- Steven Jackson, Oregon St. (1) 6’1 227 Lbs A big, powerful back. Is a downhill slasher. Runs with solid pad level. Delivers a blow at the point of attack, and consistently finishes runs by falling forward. Top prep prospect out of Nevada. So prolific as a prep runner that his high school jersey was retired by his high school.

3- Chris Perry, Michigan (1-2) 6’0 225 Lbs Has good size, and is built well with good speed. Is a shifty, powerful runner with good strength. From Advance, NC, attended Fork Union Prep (the same school that produced Eddie George). Signed with Michigan and saw significant time behind Anthony Thomas before becoming the full time starter as a Junior.

Let's draft Steve Jackson at #13! We can run a "full house" offence. No one will know with one of our three elite backs will be carrying the ball. If the all have decent hands we could send them out in pass patterns from the full house.

Yes, I'm kidding.
