We are still in need of a DB coach, when do you think we'll hire one and who do you think is available? I think this position is important I sure would like our DB's to not be 10 yards off there man any more. I sure hopw that it was GW's call on that and if it was Jerry Gray's call then he should know better he was a Pro Bowl DB? Thoughts on a new DB coach?

Deion Sanders has expressed intrest in coaching, but also Gray was the DB coach in TEN so he may just assume the posistion himself.

Cordinators doubling as position coaches frighten me. :scared:

I doubt Gray will do it. I would hope Gilbride doubling as QB coach last season cured the Bills of any misguided thoughts in that direction.

Dieon Sanders :punk: :tomato: being a Bills coach would put ME in a position - knees on floor, head over toilet, barfing.

Where is the barf Smilie when you need it?

I would LOVE if Dieon was our DB coach.

He has 0 coaching experience 0. Deion had abilities in his body to do the things he did he just can't touch someone and all of a sudden they run a 4.2 and have hands of glue. He was a great player but I doubt he can translate that to coaching. If he is going to want to coach I think he should start out as a quality control coach and go from there.

How do you think coaches get their start? By coaching a position. He was an outstanding corner.

Contrary to popular opinion, he was a great teammate. This is from former teammates.

How do you know what he can or can't teach?

Quality control is actually a more in-depth position than what you would think. Well, at least according to Gruden's latest book.

A position coach - especially a position one played - is the perfect fit.

Lets face it, people don’t like him because of his style.

Mike Mularkey got his start as a quality control coach and went on from there. A position coach I think is more detailed.

I don't think so.

Quality control guys are the ones who break down all the tapes and stuff.

A position guy - especially for a DB, would help develop players in the position and know their responsibilites.

Jeez, so Mularkey started his pro career as quality control. So does this mean it's the new standard or something?

Wrong about what? Look up every position coach in the league. I bet they all didn't start out as quality control - which is what you are saying.

I bet a lot of them did start out that way. I'll go look right now.

Spaz, how can you not think that being a DB coach would be the ideal position for him to start coaching?!

Put all the immature "hating" him aside just because he played for the Cowboys and admit he would look good on this staff. I think he could bring Nate to greatness.

Because he hasn't coached anything that is why?

Deion should possibly start out as a position coach at the college level first. This is not a Deion thread it's about who coach our DB's and it probably will not be Sanders.

You are right, I do not like him due to his "style". Deion is a ME-first, I need to have a tantrum if you do not get me attention, spoiled athlete turned wannabe broadcaster. Look at the stunt he pulled trying to "unretire" so he could get in playoffs but JUST for the team he wanted to even though when he was put on retired list after he told team he no longer had the heart to play. I do NOT need to hire a coach to coach my DBs how not to be able to tackle!

If Deion is going to be coach of any team, let him be coach of Washington Redsucks - Snyder has already paid him!

I'd welcome an ex-player who learned he had to work hard to excel not excell by using his mouth!

ahhh but our DBs don't need to learn how to tackle, they already know how.

How many interceptions did the Bills secondary have this season?
