    New DB coach.

    Steve Szabo.

The Bills have hired Steve Szabo as defensive backs coach. Szabo (pronounced ZAY-bo) spent this past season as a volunteer assistant coach with the New England Patriots. Prior to that he coached linebackers with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1994-02 under Tom Coughlin and in 2004 he will be entering his 35th season in coaching.

My guess is that it means that he helped coach the team but just was not being paid. Think of it as a "walk-on" coach.

I think familiarity with the Pats' secondary and their coverages will really help. I like the fact that we have coaches from a number of teams, including the Steelers, Giants, Rams, and Pats. Hopefully we can blend the best of each.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Hopefully this hire will mean the Bills corners actually challange the receivers more on the LOS. I am happy with this hire as well. Mularkey is the man!
