Well if we don't resign Winfield the chances are pretty good. I don't think that McGee or Thomas can take over as starting corners quite yet at least I hope that they don't. Unless we go real wacky during draft day and draft 1 with our 1st round pick.

Id say slim and none. We may sign a mid tier corner but us getting one of the top guys is not likely IMO.

No way I see Law being let go just to reunite with Milloy. Bellick ain't that stupid. They need him to make their D work. Milloy was expendable to them. Law is not.

But what the hell do I know.

There are a lot of CBs in FA this year. I dont know about keeping winfield, I like him but i would rather have a CB that makes plays.
He is a great tackler though!

As someone else here a while ago noticed, great tackler yes, but lousy in coverage. I'm not singling out him though. I think the whole defensive mindset was one of bend-don't break, rather than one that was an attacking D.

How many times did we see the DBs lay off WRs 5-6-7 yards on critical third down plays. That was frustrating. We'd hold teams to 1 or 2 yard gains on first and second downs, then like clockwork, give up big plays on 3rd, allowing huge yards after catch.

I'd like to see us get a Julias Peppers-type speed DE/pass rushing specialist to pressure QBs. Couple that with our corners playing up and tight, almost mauling them like NE. Then, I think other teams stop sustaining drives at the rate they have been against us.

I can see Buffalo getting Troy Vincent for a couple years.. This way McGee has time to improve over the next season or 2.. Of course that all depends if Winfield is not resigned..

                Welcome to the zone bdogg..

I think Winfield's our best cover guy. His problem is his hands. They're terrible. He dropped quite a few last season. Clements is much more likely to come up with the big play (size, hands) but he'll also give up a big play because he takes chances. Hopefully Winfield's asking price won't be too ridiculous. There are a ton of guys coming available. I don't want Woodson. I think he's overrated and I think Champ's gonna get way too much $$$ although he is awesome. My personal favorite would be McAlister in Baltimore. There's always Ty Law (best in the league), Troy Vincent or Shawn Springs too. We'll see.

I like McAllister too. Living in Baltimore, I've gotten to see him play a lot. It's taken him a few years, but he's grown into a top 3-5 corner imo.

His run support has become excellent too. that was his biggest weakness and now he comes up and sticks. He's tall too so that helps in coverage.

I like him as well but the Ravens have enough money to sign him or slap the franchise tag on him.

This is the Key right here.

We need a stud DE to create pressure on the QB. Imagine how good AW/NC would be if they didnt have to hold their coverage for 10 seconds.

Pressure on the QB is what causes turnovers.

I sorta think that if Winfield is not resigned, then Ty Law would be coveted. He played w/ Milloy for a long time, and the Bills do have that Pats connect.

Becareful I don't want us to become the Buffalo Patriots. Lets see we signed Milloy, got Szabo who worked for the Patriots we may get woody and if we sign Law. Wow!
