Cherry goes on seven-second delay

CANADIAN PRESS

Bombastic hockey commentator Don Cherry has been given a seven-second penalty by CBC-TV. The network announced today that because of comments Cherry made recently about European and French-Canadian hockey players wearing visors, his Coach's Corner segment on Hockey Night in Canada would be delayed seven seconds, starting tomorrow night.
The CBC also publicly reprimanded Cherry over what management called an "inappropriate and reprehensible personal opinion" expressed on air.

So was Grapes wearing a pastie at the time of the incident? Or was it a wardrobe malfunction?

What Happened to that ESPN Analyst That Spoke His mind... he was forced to resign.

Don Cherry is untouchable in Canada. Jeez, the CBC tried to whack Ron Mclean, his straight-man sidekick earlier last year and it almost caused a national crisis. I could just imagine if they ever whacked Cherry.

Rush is an idiot...but what did cherry express an opinion about to cause CBC to do that

He constantly berates french & european players on air. The piece that got him in trouble was pretty mild by cherry standards, but I think it was the straw that broke the camel's back for the CBC.

I totally agree with that one. Rush is no sports analyst.

This is Don Cherry we're talking about. It wouldn't be Coaches Corner without calling the Euros soft and the frenchies gutless.

Who gives a ****.
I hate political correctness.

If the CBC were a private company, I'd agree with you.

CBC makes big money off of cherry,if he quit, then there goes alot of revenue that we the people will have to pick up,all over that dumb bytch at the language police who file a complaint against cherry without ONE complaint from the veiwers, she is abusing her powers and our money to go after him.You have to wonder if this is just an anglo hating stunt pulled off by her.
