WIVB Ch. 4 in Buffalo is reporting that John Rigas and his sons Tim and Michael were arrested at 7:00 this morning in NYC by federal law officials.

All I can say is wow...may justice be swift and just.

The Feds catch them on the first tee?

Odd, the Feds have already arrested the Rigases but have yet to arrest anyone from Enron?

Unbelievable, just when you think that people can't piss you off anymore, I am so mad at the Rigasas. "I will do whatever it takes to bring the cup to Buffalo" B ***** S. He had the worlds greatest GT and not once did he really try to win with him.

They will get what they deserve. They are a very power and money hungry family and poster childs for what is wrong with the world today.

I hope they rot in jail.

I think the handcuffs are a good look on old man John.

This happened today-

I was at a trade show held by AT&T Broadband, a major cable outlet here in Boston. There were a number of ad executives and sales reps from all the major cable networks (ESPN, BRAVO, Lifetime, Nick, and so on....) and they were around my booth all day because I had a TV hooked up with Fox News.

While making small chat, we noticed Rigas getting hauled off and I made the comment.... "I'm glad the guy is getting hauled off! He ruined my Buffalo Sabres! I hope they can survive and remain in Buffalo!"

Meanwhile, forgetting these folks were all connected within the industry...."'OH my god! They got John! I don't think he will live through this... this will kill him!"

Then they all start looking at me like I got 4 heads or something....

I guess you had to be there.....

Dozer, good for you.
I hope it does kill him, the ... (fill in the blank with whatever censored term you like best).

does the league officially own them now? I'm not sure what the legality is as far as ownership goes.

Yes they are owned by the NHL as of earlier this year, when the whole Adelphia thing broke.

Corporate greed gets you no where, except a nice cell in a country club prison.

Actually, the NHL is only controlling the team. Rigas "officially" owns the team until it is sold, although he has no control over the day-to-day running of the team anymore.

While the Rigas were stealing everything that they could get their hands on, why didn't they steal a Stanley Cup? Instead of stealing money for a golf course out in the middle of nowhere. they could have bought a Stanley Cup, like Detroit.
So when they are getting raped by their boyfriends in jail, they could have said they own a Stanley Cup Champion.
:machgun: Rigas
:angry: --> Me

I believe the team was turned over to Adelphia prior to the league taking over managing it.
