just wondering...i haven't been able to pay much attention to the sabres yet due to time restraints...but how come those 2 haven't been in the lineup? are they hurt? thanks...

Afinogenov is hurt. Kalinin played Thursday.

I don't think anyone really knows. He took a puck to the forehead over in Russia and as far as I know, hasn't even practiced yet.

OK, actually, I was wrong about Kalinin. He didn't play in either game yet, but he's not hurt, he was a healthy scratch. There's a story in today's Buffalo News (http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20021013/1044257.asp)

MONTREAL - Dmitri Kalinin doesn't like the idea of starting the 2002-03 campaign watching games from the press box. He had gotten used to playing during the past two seasons.
But maybe that's why the Buffalo Sabres defenseman has been a healthy scratch for the first two games. Perhaps he took it for granted.
