NASHVILLE — To appreciate all the physical adversity Steve McNair has endured — including surgery Tuesday to remove a cracked bone spur from his left ankle — perhaps it's best to begin with the last time he was booed by his Tennessee Titans fans.

Titans quarterback Steve McNair was recruited in high school as a defensive back. "I enjoyed hitting," he says.

It was 1999, in the Titans' first game in their new stadium. McNair, playing on a twisted ankle, fumbled the ball away late. Tennessee still pulled out a 36-35 victory against then-dismal Cincinnati. But fans thought it should have been a romp and jeered McNair despite the 21-for-32 passing day that accounted for 341 yards and three touchdowns.

I lost faith in this forum when I seen Shaq on there. He gets a hang nail and he is out for a week. Another thing, how tough is Tiger Woods, c'mon, he is a friggin' golfer.

Steve McNair is the LAZIEST athlete. He just happens to be too hurt to practice EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I don't buy it.

He probably sits around playing XBOX while his other teammates slave away in the hot sun.

McNair may be "tough" but he gets points off for never letting you forget what a warrior he is. Just lead by example and shut the **** up.
