Both he started out as a tackle but in 2002-2003 he played center.

Well if we sign Bober he most likely will play Center as McNally put him there and he played pretty well. Woody can play Center and Guard both pretty well but Bober is either a tackle or a center not a guard and we don't really need tackles.

he is a versitile guy, which we know that TD loves.. and mcnally has a high regard of him. he is one of those guys that is "up and coming".. he is just the right kind of FA that we need to sign.. he wont cost a fortune, but will be solid for years... whether or not he could be an all start is anyones guess.. but he is a good stout player at the point of attack against the run and the pass.

my theory..

bober will be signed.. he will be the new center.. woody will be signed.. he will be the new LG next to jennings.. teague, tucker, pucillo, and sullivan will fight it out at RG.. and sullivan will win.. teague will be cut in june for a very minimal savings..

eb/clump would have to comment on that, but i dont think we save a penny really by cutting him.. but he is making a bit too much to be a back up.. so they may ask him to take a pay cut or hit the road.. hit the road is fine by me.

Because that pro bowl center can also play guard and he can play it better than so-so as you state, imo. He has the size they are looking for so he doesn't get bullrushed into Bledsoes face and he can always be an option to play center to if Bober or Teague doesn't work out. Woody would be a major signing for this team that is very much needed.
