It was like a would-be suicide pointing a gun to his head, slowly squeezing the trigger --- and then missing. That was the Buffalo Bills in Houston Sunday afternoon.

It was an off-key symphony with sour notes in penalties, missed blocks, sloppy tackling and a graphic illustration of Dom Capers of the Texans out-coaching Buffalo’s Gregg Williams. In the end, Drew Bledsoe rode to the rescue once again.

Of course if the Bills spent all their mistakes in Texas, they could be near the top of their division. Holding off the Texans’ last siege put the Bills at .500. Next Sunday they play the Dolphins in south Florida. Dream a little.

Other than the victory, the most important thing to come out of Houston was the coming out of Travis Henry. He got the ball more than at any time since he’s been a Bill. He demonstrated that Buffalo is able to control the ball with him, take some heat off Drew Bledsoe’s passing arm, cause opposing defenses to concoct schemes to thwart him and to produce first downs and touchdowns when they are most sorely needed....MORE...
