TE Mark Bruener will visit Buffalo on March 9.

PRO: Bruener, considered one of the best blocking tight ends in the NFL, has been a key part of the Steelers offense the past nine years…is also a quality pass catcher…was replaced in the starting lineup first by Jay Riemersma and then Jerame Turman…Bruener finished the season on the sidelines as he was placed on the reserved/injured list (12/3/02) for the second consecutive year after knee surgery Dec. 3…Bruener, considered one of the best blocking tight ends in the NFL, was having another All-Pro-caliber season in 2001 and was instrumental in the Steelers number-one rushing offense until suffering a season-ending shoulder surgery in the Nov. 18 Jacksonville game…was placed on reserved/injured list Nov. 21 after having surgery that morning…had surgery caught six passes for 56 yards during the preseason. …is one of the most dependable tight ends in the NFL as a blocker and receiver…is the consummate team player and a leader in the locker room.

Sounds like a good pickup for the running game. Mularkey and Co. could sway him, since they worked in Pitt. together.

    Sounds like an injury risk.

Good...so Campbell will still be our #1? I thought he played well, and can catch well too. Hope the Pitt boy doesn't get special treatment.

bruener wont get much money.. and he will just fill the role that dave moore did last season.. bruener.. when healthy, is like having an extra tackle to block.. he is an incredible blocker.. i think he would be a great fit here.. he obviously has some skills.. or he wouldnt have been a first rounder.

If we get him cheap then this is probably ok.

The word is that the Bills thought they could sign Moore for the minimum right after cutting him but TB jumped in and signed him.

We're in need of a backup but not anyone who will cost any real $$$$. Too many other holes to fill.

                We cut Jay Riemersma.

                Jay replaced Bruener in Pittsburgh.

So let's bring in the guy who was benched by a guy we cut.

                Oke-doke.

Jay replaced Bruener in Pitt because B was injured, not because he was a etter player....plus the steelers needed to add more of a pass catching threat to their offense, and we all know that riemersma can catch the ball....bruener is a blocker

Campbell is out starter and Bruener would be the backup!
