Former NFL star Dexter Manley was released from prison early Friday after serving two years for possessing crack cocaine.

"I'm really excited to be back out here in the free world and being an example of what I can do versus what I cannot do," Manley, a former Washington Redskins player, told Houston television station KRIV-TV shortly after his release.

Manley, who starred for the Washington Redskins, was plagued by drug problems throughout his career.

In 1989, Manley failed a drug test and was suspended from the NFL. The next year he joined the Arizona Cardinals and later played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he retired in 1991 after a second failed drug test.

The defensive end was arrested four times from November 1994 to July 1995 for possessing small quantities of crack cocaine. He later was convicted and served 15 months of a four-year sentence. He was paroled in November 1996 and in 2002 convicted of evidence tampering for swallowing cocaine during a January 2001 drug bust.

I wonder if he learned to read while in prison. (He was the subject of a scandal some years ago. He went to college, attended classes, and it was discovered later in his pro career that he was a functional illiterate.)

Go look at the articles about it. I'm not your librarian, but more then one of them clearly say that he would be on the state offenders list until he finished his community service.

Lmao...If you guys cant take the heat, dont start a smack thread.

What sort of magical land is Buffalo where people convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor dont get put on the sex offender list?

Maybe I'm mistaken...Considering how the "ladies" in upstate New York look, maybe he was instead charged with Beastality!

Since he was sentenced to 100 hours of community service in November of 2001, i'm sure his record has been cleared.

Henry, who pleaded guilty last month to the misdemeanor charge of attempted sexual misconduct, is eligible to have his record cleared once he's completed his service.

Thank you very much.

Oh, right. You're one to talk of credibility, Saburz.

Like I said, look it up yourselves. The article that was posted alludes to it indirectly.

Ranting? Lmao, some guy asked me to prove it, and when I do, you guys get all uptight.

I didnt say he was still on record for being a sex offender. I said he spent time on the NY state sex offender list. And he has.

Next time you guys call out the Dolphins for "criminals"(Of which on the current roster you can name how many?), you should remember you have convicted sex offender playing for you.

Saburz aint got the balls to handle actual discussions anymore. He should probabaly take me off ignore and provoke some more arguments, or at least show his face on the ESPN Dolphins boards again.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. He'll have his day eventually.

How about the list of players that Miami has signed with a known history of criminal activity?

Charles Jordan, the gem of Jimmy Johnson's recieving core a few years ago? Lets look at his laundry list of problems:
-Gang affiliation
-Grand theft auto (not the game)
-Robbery
-Assult on a police officer
-Posession of crack
-Kidnapping

How about Derrick Rogers. Didn't he beat the crap outta his wife 2 years ago?

Oh yeah... And didn't the Dolphins sign Lawrence Phillips AFTER all the trouble he had been in?

Not to mention your team plays in one of the most criminially active cities in the U.S. and serves as an international harbor for drug movement. Look at your avatar for godsakes, it basically screams 'gimme a line and a 40'. I would venture to say half your roster has some sort of hidden criminal history. Tool.

Again, you cant name any current players. No room to talk, considering your most famous player is a murderer.

Btw.."Hidden" criminal records? Lmao. If teams could hide criminal records, I'm sure the Bills would surpress the hell out of Henry's. That'd be out of the limelight faster then people in the Bills organization know to locate their underaged daughters when TH is around.

As much as I hate to say this, I think the NFL team with a history of the most criminals to play for them has to be my beloved Cowboys. :( At one point I think Jimmy Johnson was recruiting at the local prisons.:wail:

I think every professional team has some guys through out the years who have had run-ins with the law. It’s only natural. Athletes these days think they’re god and above the law. At least my ‘Boys have cleaned their act up! :1star:
