The Zone's Chris Hare breaks down the Tight Ends for the upcoming draft:
1- Kellen Winslow Jr., Miami (FL) (1) 6’3 247 Lbs.
Catches the ball both away from his frame and in stride. Can snag balls over his shoulder downfield. Shows the speed to work the seam and create separation on vertical routes. Has good sideline awareness. Is a great athlete; changes directions quickly and has the burst out of his cuts to get open against single coverage. Leaps well; catches the ball at its highest point. Is clutch under pressure; wants the ball in critical situations. Has the second gear to run away from defenders
2- Ben Troupe, Florida (1-2) 6’4 265 Lbs.
Has excellent hands. Can catch over his shoulder and away from his body. Adjusts well to poorly thrown passes. Has ideal height, adequate bulk and room to add weight to his frame. Is a big target with a wide wingspan in the middle of the field. Is smooth, quick and fast after the catch. Is agile for his size. Can put on a move or lead a diving tackler in the open field. Has a second gear when he hits daylight. Has a natural ability to get a quick release, especially when he's in the slot or split wide. Is surprisingly quick and shows the initial burst to drive the defender off the line of scrimmage.
3- Ben Watson, Georgia (2-3) 6’3 258 Lbs.
Has big, strong hands and can make spectacular catches and tough catches in traffic. Catches the ball before it gets into his body. Has good size and is a fine athlete with speed and quickness. Can stretch the field vertically. Is a threat after the catch because of speed and athleticism. Has a second gear in the open field and is tough to bring down once he is at full speed.
