Here is the Sabres record against the next ten opponents

Atlanta 1-2
TB 1-2
Florida 1-1-1
Montreal 2-2
Pitts 0-2
Pitts 0-2
Columbus 0-0 (how did that happen?)
NYR 2-1
Toronto 3-0-1-1
Montreal 2-2

Total 12-14-2-1

If they go 7-3 in the last 10 then the Isles only need go 3-7.

Even the Panthers are no longer a gimmee, with the way Luongo has been standing on his head.

Wouldn't 4-6 get it done?

Yes but if we win 7 of our last 10 and they win 4 of their last 10, we'll finish the year with 2 more wins!

my mistake...if we go 7-3 the isles can go 4-6...now find me 7 Buffalo wins and 6 Isle losses.

Again, not saying it's going to happen and I know you're theory about Pitts and Columbus but the sabres should be able to beat, Atl, Fla, Mon, Pit, Pit, Col and NY.

We'd need the Isles to lose to TB, Phi, Phi, NJ, Mon and one other, Fla, Car, Car, Was, Min!

NY beating TB last night really hurt our chances.

There's a nice stretch from this Saturday to next Monday where we each have
5 games, here's how it looks

We get, at Fla, Mon, Pit, at Pit and Col
They get, TB, Was, @Phi, Car at NJ

I think we can make up some serious ground in those 5. At least 4 points.

I thought all that to until we lost Zhitnik and Drury.

That also hurts! Things are not looking good, but maybe we'll get lucky and Fla can beat up on NY tonight and we can beat Atl. Which would mean a win over Tampa tomorrow night would put us within 2!

I think to have a chance the Sabres have to win 3 of the next 4 and the Isles have to do no better than 3 points out of 8...Buffalo has to cut the lead in half in the next 4.

anythingcan happen in the last strech of the season...the wild could beat the iles out of the awful group with phily twice nj and montreal....the wild just beat the sens easily so i think the wild would be the team to beat the iles out of that group

The Sens have big time goaltending problems right now.

I didn't see the Drury hit, but the radio guys are going nuts. Was it as cheap as they're making it out to be? I know the Cross check to Brieres face in the OT was cheap as hell.

Not to mention the follow-up punch McCabe gave Briere. But it wasn't a penalty, come on!

For the record, I have never thought it'd be easy the rest of the way, even before we found out about Drury and Zhitnik. Buffalo tends to play even worse against the lower-card teams (Atlanta, Pitt, Florida).

If you buy this, we're still looking good! We got the Atl win and they got that all important "one other loss"

So if we can beat Fla, Mon, Pit, Pit, Col and NYR!

And they can lose to TB, Phi, Phi, NJ, Mon!

We're in!

OT Loss!

Valerie

Thanks, Patrick! :) But why doesn't that just go into the loss column? Why does it have to have its own column? Isn't a loss a loss regardless when it happened?

Hockey is soooooooooooooooooo confusing! :dizzy:

It's a fairly new rule. Back in the old days, if you lost in OT, you didn't get anything. But now, if you lose in OT, you still get the point.

The thinking was that some teams in the old system were happy to get the point and would play, not to lose in OT.

The theory of the point for an OT lose is that if teams know that they already have a point wrapped up, they'd go all out to get the 2nd point for the win.

Before the rule, games always ended in a tie. A teams OT record would be 0-0-15 but now teams are at 4-4-7 in OT!

Thanks again, Patrick! :) I sort of get it, but it's still confusing.

I got a few more terms down while watching the Leafs game last night. So, I'm very slowly getting there.

The OT loss point is definetely a great system that allows us not to feel so bad if we lose in the extra playing time...

OT should be gotten rid of...sorry.
