    Improvements everywhere

i am not going to try and pawn this off as my own idea.. i saw this while browsing at the Range.. KeithG posted this idea though.. and i agreed with him completely.

we have made improvements all over the place..

    1. lost morris / gained mcgahee.. improvement
    2. lost winfield / gained vincent .. improvement or at a minimum a break even
    3. hurt moulds / healthy moulds.. improvement
    4. GW and coaches / MM and coaches .. improvement, cant be worse
    5. pucillo / villarrial .. major improvement
    6. lost brown / sullivan, tucker, draft pick .. improvement
    7. jennings, teague, and williams under old coaching / same guys with a real OLine coach ... improvement
    8. prioleau, reese / wire ... improvement
    9. reed second year / reed third year .. likely improvement
    10. bledsoe under killdrive / bledsoe under wyche and clements .. improvement (still not great, but better)

and this doesnt inlcude the draft...

we are a better team... keithg hit the nail on the head.

if you dont think so.. where do you see him being wrong?

i think the only possible spot that we have not improved, and maybe gotten worse is the FB position.. but that is assuming that shelton cant get the job done.. which he may very well be able to do.

              How about this scenario:

Drafting QB in the first round - Signing Volek and drafting another player (WR,DE,C) that will be playing from day one.

              Or how about
Defense with Lebeau - Defense without

We were better the day GW left, and better still when KG wasn't retained. The assessment tonk put up is pretty accurate. I still say, in spite of our 6-10 recird last year, we had MOST of the tools to be competitive. We've got more tools at our disposal now with, presumably, the right guys who know how make the best use of them.

I agree, except that I don't as yet see an improvement at LG, even though Ruben was not the player he once was.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Keep Teague away from the center position and I'll agree with it too!

Two things I'm concerned about with that list.

#2: Vincent may be a break even or better CB in coverage, but he will never be the open field / crushing tackler that AW was for Buffalo. That set a lot more of the tone on our defense last year than people realize.

#8: We went through this last year. Most people agreed that he doesn not have the speed required by a FS. Why, suddenly, is this no longer an issue? He's a SS, plain and simple. Don't give me that "last game of the season" crap, either. Buffalo was shallacked 31-0 in that game. And, although I agree with Tatonka's assessment that "no one showed up for that game", how can you possibly take that game as an example to say Wire showed enough to warrent moving him into the SS position. I disagree. I like Wire and we need a good FS, so I hope I'm wrong.
Still searching for that offensive rhythm.

that is a good one, ghost.. the loss of lebeau... but i didnt list it because lebeau openly stated that gray called ALL of the plays last year.. so i really dont see that being a huge difference.. if any at all.

                            Another thought:

Provided that McGahee is close to his old form, that gives us an added dimension to the running game-speed to attack outside the tackles. Spreading the D-line laterally, defenses won't be able to overload the middle as they have in the past. Just thought I'd throw that in.
