no problem Spaz - those smileys don't always work for me with all the anti-virus, anti pop-up software on my machine - so much for subtlety ...

While I caught the sarcasm and subsequent banter after it, I feel that this is a good move for the Raiders. Sapp is on the wrong side of thirty but can still play and probably will be able to for at least a few more years while the Raiders rebuild around their linebackers.

What I don't understand is that this team suffered badly last year and is in desperate ened to purge all of its aging veterans for draft picks, younger players and money to rebuild, yet it is keeping all of its parts that failed them last year. They seem like they want to turn the corner and rebuild but are hesitant to alienate teir fan base so they stall. I think secretly they want Gannon, Rice and Brown to retire so that the younger bunch can take over and they can figure out what they have and what they need for the future.

Overall, though if they are going for the win now approach, this is probably a wise choice as a pick up.

First Vincent, then Taylor, now Sapp. Well, it looks like the Bengals are still the Bungles. :snicker:

I think the Bengals are better off without Sapp then with Sapp. Oakland just saved the Bengals... although i'm sure they will do something stupid still because like they say, once you're a Bungle, you're always a Bungle.

looks like the numbers may not be verified ... I heard 7 years, 39.6 initially on ESPN news, then every other article I saw said 36.6. Either way, that's some serious money.

Either way, the Raiders will never learn. That rocks! :)
