For the gloom and Doomers about the QB position....Chandler a Ram

Chris Chandler? Rams' signing raises some red flags

    Chris Chandler?

That question looms large over Rams Nation this week. Chris . . . Chandler. Chris . . . Chandler. Rams fans keep running those words through their cerebral wickets, seeking to knock some sense out of them.

What was Mike Martz thinking when he courted the 900-year-old quarterback and offered him a three-year contract? What does it mean to the ongoing Marc Bulger/Kurt Warner controversy?

This signing raises a number of flags:

    * Can anybody imagine Chandler cheerfully filling the No. 3 role? Sitting quietly as a back-up has been tough enough for him. He wasn't thrilled about yielding his Falcon gig to Michael Vick, perhaps the most exciting player in the game today.

Teams usually put long-term projects in the No. 3 role, guys like Warner and Bulger before they broke out.

    * Can anybody imagine Chandler backing up Warner?

Should another team (like, say, the Pittsburgh Steelers) swipe Bulger by making a ridiculous financial offer, logic dictates that the Rams get a younger guy to compete with Warner for the starting gig.

Looks like the Rams are about to depart with either Warner (likely) or Bulger (less likely)

This is big for the Bills- hopefully Pittsburgh, Packers, or Giants get involved (giving us a great shot at a good QB in Rd 1 or 2)

Or a real long shot would be the Bills getting interested in Warner

I don't see Bulger shaking loose and I'm betting Warner will be welcomed around here like snow in July. Draft may open a little.

              Chris Chandler signs with Rams

"It just strengthens the position," coach Mike Martz said Monday. "Obviously, we're not bringing Scott Covington back. So Chris is one of our three quarterbacks. He's not coming in here to compete as a starter. He's coming in here in a backup capacity. He understands that."

Does that mean Warner will be released??

Who needs Volek when we can have WARNER as a backup???!!!
