(March 26, 2004) — ORCHARD PARK — He danced around the question with a nimbleness he has seldom shown in the pocket. Asked at practice the other day if this was a pivotal year for him, Drew Bledsoe said that every year is pivotal when you play in the National Football League.
True enough. But, try as he might to sidestep the issue, there’s no denying that the Bills quarterback is facing the most critical season of his 11-year career.
Never mind about being at the crossroads. He’s in the crosshairs. This is a make-or-break year for big No. 11.
After watching him produce nearly twice as many turnovers (23) as touchdowns (13) last fall, Bledsoe’s growing legion of critics can’t help but wonder if he is washed up at age 32.
