If the Bills' first minicamp did anything beyond introduce the players to their new coaches and new offensive system, it served as a graphic illustration that their backup quarterback situation is hovering close to desperate.
Just about everyone agrees Buffalo must draft a quarterback and develop him for the future, but what about the worst-case scenario for the 2004 season? Even if the Bills used their first-round draft choice on a quarterback, it wouldn't be much help for this year. Cincinnati made Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer the first pick in the draft last year, but despite his acknowledged skills he never played a down....
