    TD waiting for Warner?

"The St. Louis Post-Dispatch speculates that Kurt Warner's days with the Rams could end on June 1. This happens following the signing of Chris Chandler, who provides depth at quarterback. The team could provide itself with cap relief by releasing Warner, who lost his starting spot to Marc Bulger during the 2003 season"

Would give us a REAL backup who could definitly make a Superbowl impact should Drew faulter again.

The question is......does he accept the back up role? IMO probably not.

Too expensive and we don't need another controversy.

We have no need for Warner. He hasn't had a good game in two years.

                Kurt: 6/22/71
                Drew: 2/14/72
                Difference: 8 months

I don't think age is a factor when comparing to Drew. The only reason I wouldn't want him here is because of the money. HOWEVER, if the only way to dump Drew would be to sign Kurt, I'd still do it in a heartbeat. I bet he would still be cheaper, and quite frankly he is still a better QB.

His thumb injury hurt him in '02, but he was passing well last year pre-season. He just got unlucky with a few successive concussions which screwed him up. The whole medical thing was a fiasco and he should never have been on the field. After that he really never was given the chance after Bulger proved himself.

So, in summary, I would want him if:

                1. He is a cheap backup (not likely)

                or

                2. He comes in to compete for #1

Unlike Drew, he hasn't had a ton of chances to re-prove himself after the injuries. And don't forget what he did, btw. His performance earned him 2 league MVPs. Yes, he had the "Greatest Show on Turf" so I know that plays a factor. But he still had to make the reads and complete the passes, so it's not like you could have put an RJ back there and still earn 2 MVPs. Those awards are not given lightly.

Kurt Warner was good, but he hasn't been able to do anything over the past two seasons. He lost the starting job twice to Bulger, so he's had his chances to reprove himself. I'd rather have Doug Johnson than Warner, at least he's won a game in the past two years.

He lost the starting job twice because he was injured twice (hand and then concussions). He never lost the job based on performance when healthy.

Johnson vs. Warner over the past 2 years:
Johnson played in 16 games, starting 9, throwing for 2103 yards 10 td, 15 int with Peerless Price and Terrence Edwards.
Warner played in 9 games, starting 7, throwing for 1796 yards, 4 tds, and 12 picks with Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce.
Not quite as dumb as you think.
