The Bills were interested in trading for Redskins FB Bryan Johnson, but it looks like he will be dealt to Chicago. Johnson, a restricted FA, signed an offer sheet with New Orleans that was matched by the Redskins. However, the offer sheet calls for an $800K roster bonus to be paid next Sunday, when a no-trade clause kicks in. The Redskins started shopping him shortly after matching the offer sheet, and the Bears apparently will get him after offering a 6th-round pick.

Though the Bills lost out on Johnson, the fact they were looking at possibly trading for him shows they wish to upgrade the position. I would think that they may look at the draft now to fill that need.

The article states:

"A league source said the Washington Redskins will trade fullback Bryan Johnson to the Bears on Monday in exchange for a sixth-round draft choice. The Raiders and Bills were the other teams in the running for the hard-nosed Johnson."

Ut...OH... Mikey is gonna have another conniption fit.

Johnson's deal is worth $4.7 million over four years but counts $2.2 million against this year's salary cap. It includes an $800,000 roster bonus due Tuesday and nearly $600,000 in incentives Johnson is unlikely to meet, language included to front-load the deal.

So- you want to take a $2.2 million cap hit AND give up a draft pick in this year's draft- the deepest in NFL history?????

OK Dan Snyder Jr.

The only thing that suprises me in all of this is that it's the Redskins on the receiving end this time- usually they are the guys who dole out ridiculous money and picks at the same time.

By matching the offer sheet, they turned a 7th rd pick into a 6th rd pick
