BARRY WILNER, AP Football Writer
There are two more seasons left on the NFL's $17.6 billion television package with ABC/ESPN, Fox and CBS. That doesn't mean it's too early for negotiations to begin on the next deal.

Commissioner Paul Tagliabue told the owners Monday he expects to hold talks with the networks soon. NFL ratings have remained strong while many other sports -- and general programming -- have declined. Tagliabue would like another eight-year deal, although that is unlikely given the current network climate.....

Expect the Salary cap to take a couple of quick jumps in the next few years once the deal is done. I can see a 90-100 million salcap in 2006-2007-2008

Any chance a new network will get in on the action like NBC again, or ESPN picking up more games, or ABC??

It's all a possibility. If they eliminate the AFC/NFC seperate packages and just hand out the best TV Markets and the best TV games equally- I don't see why it can't happen- especially if they come up with a mid-season Thursday night package or Saturday night game .

I like the idea of Saturday night games more than Monday night. I say it's time for change.

The NFL betetr cut a deal with cable soon for the NFL Ticket. Yes I know satellite is better but for people who can't get it due to restrictions are missing out and the NFL can make a bigger profit.

that would be to hard to do unless ur looking at like so many different networks to carrys games....

and how would they decide what chanel would carry what game.... like if cbs got the cards against the chargers... and nbc/fox whatever got a big game colts vs. pats then cbs would llose alot of viewers..... if u want every game on cable one network can only carry one game....

basicly i think it would be to hard to divide up the games...

i think im making sence....

can u think of a way they can make it work on cable?

Cable has NHL Ticket, NBA Ticket, Baseball Extra Innings, NCAA basketball and football. I think they could find a way.

I don't see it happening. They've been staying away from Friday and Saturday games all along to let high school and college football get audiences.
