I was almost expecting the Rangers to end the Sabres season tonight on a Messier last second goal...:phew:

So Sabres have to win two and Isles have to lose two, right?

What happens if Isles lose two and Sabres win one and tie one?

It's been a great career for Messier. I surely hope if he does retire, he doesn't do like so many others when they "retire".

I tip my hat (the one I don't wear) to Messier.

This would get us in! Also could get in by winning 2 and having the Isles Tie one and lose one.

Too bad Slim in on his horse...we need Carolina to win and for NJ to keep winning to put pressure on Philly so that Sunday's game with the NYI means something.

there are only 4 ways the Sabres can get in, if:

1) Sabres win 2... Isles lose 2
2) Sabres win 2... Isles tie 1, lose 1
3) Sabres win 1, tie 1... Isles lose 2
4) Sabres win 1, lose 1 in overtime... Isles lose 2

so no matter what, the Isles cannot gain 2 points or we are out, and the reason why 3 points from a win and tie or OT loss would work for the sabres is because that would mean the Sabres have 38 wins while the Isles have 37, and although they would both have 88 points, the team with the most wins advances! so yea there ya go!
