Bears defense a shadow of former self

In losing their last three games, the Chicago Bears have given up 96 points.

That's quite a change from last year, when Chicago had the NFL's stingiest scoring defense and allowed 203 points all season. And it was hardly what the Bears had in mind when they returned all but two starters from last year's squad.

"We've been quite confused the last three weeks," defensive coordinator Greg Blache said. "We've been getting calls from Division II schools trying to schedule us for homecoming. I turned them down because I didn't want to overschedule.
