"Only final details need to be worked out before Pro Bowl guard Ruben Brown becomes a Chicago Bear. Brown could sign a contract as soon as Thursday, becoming the fourth new offensive starter to join the Bears this off-season. Sources said Wednesday night that the last issue involved whether the contract would be for one or three years, but it was not considered a sticking point. It's expected that Brown will earn a salary approaching $1 million, slightly over the veteran's minimum of $760,000. The new Bears coaching staff, particularly offensive line coach Pete Hoener, made a strong impression on Brown during a visit last week and that played a role in his decision. Brown will play right guard next to newly signed offensive tackle John Tait."
