How about trading down guys. Say we trade our 1st round pick for a lower 1st rounder and that teams 2nd round pick. With that move we could draft a Losman, Troupe or Watson, and a decent reciever. I know i would be quite happy with this list. We would have a better chance of some impact players instead of putting all are money on one guy high in the draft. With a similar move in 2001 we got Clements, Schobel and Henry. I think that worked out quite well. Thoughts?

I would be ecstatic if we did that.

no way if there is one of the superstars that might be available at 13 (it ben, tommy harris, rivers, roy williams, etc) but if there isnt any of that top 10 talent available at 13, i wouldnt be against trading down to 20 or so and getting one of the impact corners, shawn andrews, or one of the second teir WR's.

If Harris and Rivers were the only players available, I would definitely like to trade down. 13 is too high for Rivers IMO and I think we could get some decent picks for 13. There will still be good receivers left later in the first and in the second.

Good post, and welcome to BZ. It's about time someone made a thread about this. Would NE go for the 13th pick in return for their 21 and 32? If so, then we could go w/ Carrey at 21, then Evans/Clayton/Woods at 32. With our 2nd rounder, then we could grab Losman, Sean Jones, or a DT. That would be awesome.

if the patriots did offer that, it would be damn hard to turn down.

I read that, the top RB in the draft (whoever he is) will go in the top 15, hands down. The 13th pick is a perfect place for the pats to go to get him.

but a lot of teams are liable to trade down a few spots and get one. i could see the raiders, cardinals, lions, or the redskins, trading down closer to 15. i wonder who it is that will move up or if there will be any takers.

Trade down is not a bad idea. All depends on who is still there.
