A. Winfield sprained his knee and will be added to the injury report. He is having an M.R.I. as we speak. Cross your fingers.

So is BuffaloBills.com (http://www.BuffaloBills.com):

"Starting cornerback Antoine Winfield, who injured his knee during practice on Thursday, will not play against the Dolphins on Sunday. Also, the Bills placed running back Shawn Bryson on injured reserve today and activated Ahmad Brooks from the practice squad. "

Well, Miami has no one to throw to so Watson can do fine this week. Next week against Detroit we should be fine. The week after against New England will be tougher, and then the Bye. So this didn't come at a terrible time. We have him back for the stretch run.

Eric Moulds, who leads the NFL with 45 receptions and ranks third with 581 yards receiving, missed Friday's practice because of back pains. Moulds, who stiffened up in practice a day earlier, is listed as probable for Sunday's game.

Novacane

injuries in practice really suck! You think you don't have to worry about inuries until the next game and than this crap happens. Time for Watson to pull his head out of his butt and start playing.

Winfield out indefinitly
Moulds probable
Williams doubtful
Teague probable
Bryson out for season

Gasden out
Chambers dtd
Fiedler out
Dixon doubtful
Gamble out
Russell out

If Chambers plays and we rack up the lead on you guys hopefully they let him rest the rest of the game.

This may be a blessing in disguise. It will force our D to get their balls to drop and put on some pressure. Perhaps even some double or trick coverage.

We could still win this game. That's why they play the game.

I don't think Chambers will be a major factor in this game. He'll sit unless Buffalo gets a lead and Wanny thinks that Chambers is the only answer. It will be McKnight and Ward going against Clements and Watson for the most part. Watson seemed to have a turning point in the second half of the Houston game and may not be quite as easy to pick on as he has been for the last 4 games. If we do end up losing to Miami, a very real possibility, the good news is that with all the extra work Watson is going to get over the next couple weeks he may end up being a lot better for it.

Novacane
10-18-2002, 07:36 PM
This injury really sucks because MIami probably was not gonna play a lot of 3WR so Watson would not of seen the field much.

If Winfield is out more than 1 game Watson may look good because teams will pick on Bostic or whoever else plays 3rd CB instead of picking on Watson

Your right, somethings never change. Watson came from the Broncos not the Rams. Another brilliant post showing the knowledge of a Dolphin fan

This is something very bad!!!! S#!T!!!!! We have a choice between Bostic and Kevin Thomas for 3rd. I'm telling you, we need to stick Billy Jenkins in there. I know he's not a CB, but he has to be better at covering then those two. At least he's a veteran whose played on Super Bowl teams. He knows how to play D!!!!

Was it Winfeild or Clements that missed the end of last season?
This really sucks. Anyone have a prognosis of time. I've heard he was scoped today and out 4 weeks. Any verification of that?

BillsMan80
10-18-2002, 08:56 PM
If he's out 4 weeks, that is not good, however, we can live these 4 weeks without him. That would be this week @Miami, next week vs. Detroit, the week after vs. New England, and then the Bye. That is like I have said very manageable. I lose some confidence, however, now we can put Nate on the #1 guy, and that way match up Watson on their #2 guy.

venis2k1
10-18-2002, 08:57 PM
ouch 4 weeks would really hurt...on the bright side this is his contract year, and it will bring down his $$$

this is not his contract year.. he is signed through next year.

Winfield is out indefinately. We're screwed. The only way we are going to be able to stop a passing game is by a lot of sacks. Watson is about four times as skilled any replacement he's going to get off this team. Detrioit is going to kill us. Ricky Williams will be able to take the week off. Oh my this is bad. Looks like it's all on the offense to score 50 points a game now. Maybe we can work out a deal with our opponents where we just give them a touchdown every time they would receive the ball and we subtract four minutes from the clock.

BillsMan80
10-19-2002, 09:09 AM
I don't know if your pulling a Wys typo or your being serious. If you are being serious, come on now. Even Watson should be able to hand Ward or McKnight. And Detroit isn't going to kill us. The game is in Buffalo and we are better than them hands down even without Antoine.

Typ0
10-19-2002, 09:28 AM
IMHO Detroit can put up more points than Miami against us. We'll see.

Novacane
10-19-2002, 09:51 AM
SOme are making this out to be disaster! That is not the case. Our defense has sucked anyway so how much worse can it get with Winfield out!
Bostic and Thomas have not gotten any real playing time so we don't know how good they can become.

Injuries are not the end of the World.

Remember Dick Vermiel was balling when He lost Trent Green a few years back because he had to go with some no name looser named Kurt Warner.

I am serious about this. Our D has played scared, our top corners were basically owning their men and we still get beat with big plays. We are not taking it to the other team on 3rd downs and on big plays. We don't have a choice anymore, we have to press cover and change coverages and blitz now, I think that will improve our D. We need to grow a pair.

You are kidding me right? Did you just put Chris Watson in the same sentence with Kurt Warner? That ruins your credibility right there bud...LOL.

Good teams can play through their injuries. Not so good (but competetive) teams have to hope they don't get injuries. I would suggest we are in the not so good but competetive bracket.

Watson seems convinced he has licked the problems he has had recently, ie. he was flagged for interference in the first couple games and became gun shy, playing too far off the receiver. In the second half vs Houston, he sucked it up and started playing the way he is capable of playing. Is Watson right? We'll know 24 hours from now, but the absence of Gadsen and probably absence of Chambers for most of the game may be just what the doctor ordered for Watson.
