ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Bills reserve running back Shawn Bryson will miss the rest of Buffalo's season with torn ligaments in his left knee. ADVERTISEMENT
Bryson, who will be placed on the injured reserve list, is expected to have surgery next week, coach Gregg Williams said on Friday. Buffalo's third-round pick in the 1999 draft, Bryson missed his entire rookie season after tearing ligaments in the same knee during training camp.
Initially believed to be torn cartilage, the torn ligaments were discovered during arthroscopic surgery earlier this week.
Bryson, who has just 35 yards rushing on 13 attempts this season, was hurt during a special teams play in Buffalo's 31-24 win at Houston last Sunday.
The Bills, who play at Miami on Sunday, are also concerned about the status of cornerback Antoine Winfield, the team's second-leading tackler, who had tests to determine the extent of a knee injury.
Results of the tests were not immediately known. Winfield was hurt Thursday in practice.
Eric Moulds, who leads the NFL with 45 receptions and ranks third with 581 yards receiving, missed Friday's practice because of back pains. Moulds, who stiffened up in practice a day earlier, is listed as probable for Sunday's game.
