Yep, you don't need any other client software on your PC. Trillian connects to the respective IM servers and does the rest. The basic version is free, but I have the Pro version (yeah, I paid the $25). The pro version has a few more bells and whistles which make it a little nicer to play with.

yep..just contact the person using his/her ID for yahoo or MSN...whichever you're using. Your contact lists are usually automatically imported to trillian for you

Yep. All trillian does is act as a front end to the IM (Internet Messaging) services. For example, when you use normal yahoo im to talk to someone, you actually talk to a server first to log in and get other user information, which then allows you to talk to another yahoo im user. Trillian just replaces the part on your pc, not the server part.

However, trillian also allows you to "direct connect" with another tillian user and allows for a secure connection (encrypted) for better security. Use that one if you start talking about drug trafficking, etc. ;)

Also - you can download tons of plug-ins from trillian which give you added features. One I like is the anti-spam one. It sends a word to the person tyring to add you as a friend which they then have to type in in order to be able to add you. That way, if an automated spammer tries to add you (and then blast you with spam) it won't work, because auto spammers wont be able to read and type in the word. :snicker:
