Hey guys... I was up in Buffalo today to catch the Baby Joe Mesi fight in HSBC arena. The house was rocking all night, and they got something like 16,000 people there screaming suport for Mesi. It was a great fight, with Mesi scoring a knockout in the 9th round... Congratz to Buffalo's own Baby Joe!

Of course a fish fan wouldn't know what this is about... Baby Joe is an undefeated heavyweight from western NY (24-0 with 24 KO) and is currently being groomed for a title shot.

It would be nice if he could at least fight someone in the top 15 :)

We have a Zone sports bar for this kind of thread.
Let's keep the main page Bills football only, please.

Holy CRAP!
He knocked out Izon? Izon has a steel jaw, did you see his fight against Jefferson? Mesi is a limited fighter, but he is a hard worker and unless he had a brick in his glove has more knockout power than previously stated taking out Izon like that. Ingtar, where can I read some good analysis of the fight?
If I was Mesi I would continue to fight out of B-Lo and try to slowly build up my career. He can be a local hero with a national audience like the Hiltons in Montreal, but Mesi seems smart enough to keep out of jail.

I watched that fight last night on ESPN. Interesting fight. Mesi fought the smart fight and moved laterally all night, sticking the jab in on Izon. Wasn't a pure knockout as Ref stoped fight in beginning of 9th(?) round I think? Izon's face was pretty puffed up on right side near his eye from Mesi's jab getting through. Mesi stunned him pretty good in round before with a haymaker right. Mesi has power, but is not the most powerful heavyweight I've seen.
To win against better fighters, he's going to have to keep using that relentless energy he shows. He needs to cover up better too. Also, to put things in a little perspective, Izon is stiff and doesn't move at all, not even a head bob now and then. He just stood there taking punishment from Mesi. Mesi won't see that in a better fighter. Still ESPN's post game said that they think he is definetly a top 15 fighter and I think he is entertaining as hell to watch fight. I look foward to seeing him more.
