Penguins thinking of calling up Fleury for AHL playoffs

Fleury's hockey season may not be over

Pittsburgh Penguins officials are reportedly split on whether or not to call up goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury for the American Hockey League playoffs, which start Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports there are some in the Penguins organization who would like to see the former first overall pick in the lineup for Wilkes-Barre when they face Bridgeport in the AHL playoffs opener.

However, there are others who think the 19 year old would benefit from the rest after a physically and emotionally challenging season.

I just think he's stupid for not putting up a fight when they originally sent him down. That cost him @ 3 million this year.

I guess he figures he's going to a new team anyway in a dispersal draft when the Penguins go tits-up, so why rock the boat.

Aren't they doing what the Sabres did to Roy? If Fleury is on an AHL roster to end this year, can't he play in the AHL next year when the NHL is locked out?

          Why?

He's only 19...he can go back to Quebec and play junior hockey.
