    Donahoe no fan of youth trend in football

    Scouting football talent is difficult enough without having to worry about college freshmen and sophomores, and worse, high school players, Buffalo Bills general manager Tom Donahoe said Monday.
    That’s why Donahoe is pulling for a reversal or stay of the original Feb. 5 court ruling that allows Ohio State sophomore running back Maurice Clarett to be eligible for the NFL draft a week from Saturday.

    Clarett won a legal challenge alleging that the NFL’s eligibility rule prohibiting a player from entering the draft until he has been out of high school for three years violates antitrust laws. A three-member panel of federal judges in New York will hear the league’s appeal Monday. A decision is expected next Friday.
