The Bills 2004 schedule is not an easy one, and may be the most challenging in terms of the away schedule. It's hard enough to win on the road in the NFL, but the Bills stretch run in the second half of the season could be a major challenge. There's also a demanding run through the division in the season's first half, but for now we'll start with September.

For the fourth straight year the Bills will open the season at home as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars. While Buffalo handled Jacksonville in Week Two last season, the Jaguars were a rapidly improving team that played teams close, and upset Indianapolis late in the 2003 season as quarterback Byron Leftwich got settled under center. The defense was ranked second in the league against the run by season's end. So the opener is no gimme.

Then the first of three west coast trips takes Buffalo out to Oakland. While the Bills recent history against AFC West teams on the road is not strong, the Raiders are a team under new leadership as well with Norv Turner at the helm. But they will also be tough against the run with former Bill Ted Washington and Warren Sapp set to man the middle of the Raiders defensive front four.
