An Old Bridge police officer told a Superior Court jury in New Brunswick he arrested an NFL football player during a dispute in the parking lot of a Route 35 go-go bar after the man refused to leave and punched him in the right shoulder.

Officer Robert Kurzydlowski presented the testimony at the trial of Charles Rogers and his girlfriend Taiesha Guariello in connection with an incident that occurred at the After Dark Gentlemen's Club July 13, 2002.

Rogers, 27, of Aberdeen, who has been a punt- and kickoff-return specialist for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, is charged with one count of aggravated assault for punching and kicking Kurzydlowski, three counts of aggravated assault for spitting on three other police officers, terroristic threats and resisting arrest. Guariello is charged with hindering apprehension for interfering with Rogers' arrest.

That's "Charlie" not "Charles" by football names. I thought you meant the Lions WR.

A professional football player accused of punching a police officer during a confrontation at a go-go bar has been cleared of all charges.

Charlie Rogers, 27, of Aberdeen was acquitted Tuesday of resisting arrest, hindering his apprehension and four counts of aggravated assault that stemmed from a July 13, 2002 brawl at the After Dark bar in Old Bridge. He also was charged with making terroristic threats, but that count was dismissed by the judge who presided over the four-day trial.
