Tom Modrak will worry about Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams when they're eligible to be drafted.

Now that they're not, the Buffalo Bills assistant general manager and chief scout can concern himself with other players following a federal appeals court ruling that blocked the underclassmen candidates' bids from entering this weekend's NFL Draft.

"It doesn't complicate matters at all," Modrak said on Tuesday, a day after the court's ruling. "We hung them up on the board. Now if they're not there, they're not there. We just take the plaques down and they're not there anymore."

And Modrak saw no point in speculating as to what might happen later, noting that the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held open the possibility of the players being eligible for a future supplemental draft.

"Now I don't know what it's going to mean long-term," Modrak said. "But for us, immediate, it's just two more people out of the mix, that's all."

Modrak and his staff already have enough to deal with in determining what players the Bills should take with their seven selections, starting with the No. 13 pick, during the two-day draft that opens on Saturday.

Clarett, a running back, led Ohio State to a national title as a freshman before the Buckeyes ruled him ineligible to play as a sophomore last season. Williams, a receiver, completed his sophomore season at Southern California and was considered a potential first-round pick.
